Seems you're not allowed to protect yourself from a head collisions anymore.
These refs are watching this stuff in slow motion and getting every angle possible...yet still making ridiculous calls.
Ja, this kid is a beast. Doesn't look very muscular but has great strength and torque. Hope he finds his way in the bok squad and we can keep him in SA. I'm sure there are a couple of French clubs that would love to have him on the books.
We could have another Willemse on our hands. I know qualification is now 5 years, but he is only 20 and 5 years is very short. He could pop up in 5 years time at 25 singing the French Anthem and then torment us for the next 5 to 7 years.
Ja, I think that was borderline, he used the forearm which you no longer can do. It didn't help that the player milked the hell out of it. At most a yellow.
They are also trying to protect the tackler by stopping the attacking player using the forearm.
Harsh, I know.
The game is bettering very soft but then concussion is no joke.
I would opt for tech and get all players to wear concussion monitoring bands.
Man, you don't even need to hit your head, you can just fall funny and get a bit of whip lash to get concussion. So this whole direct contact is BS. It is when your head gets jarred our shakes and your brain knocks around your skull and not always a direct blow that lead to concussion.
I know you guys might not agree, but in many instances some of these guys intentionally aim for the neck / head area, hence why this issue has come under the spotlight so many times.
I do understand that some of the tacklers could be seen as dropping down lower into the elbow / forearm tackle, but in some examples in the past, I don't really see any attempt to even try and hit the chest area at all....
I know I am being harsh, because in slow mo anything looks much worse than real time, and these guys are acting on split second reflexes, but not all incidents can be judged the same
