Chiefs first five-eighth Aaron Cruden faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his left thumb in his side's 43-43 draw with the Cheetahs on Sunday.

The side's co-captain is expected to be out for six to eight weeks, a major blow for the defending champions and New Zealand Conference leaders.

After Sunday's dramatic draw, Cruden went to hospital for an x-ray which identified a fracture in the thumb. Cruden has scored 47 points for the Chiefs this season.

The injury means he may not return before the international break and puts him in doubt for the All Blacks first test against England on June 7.

big loss, especially as he played his best game of the season against the cheetahs, finding his mojo came at a price and thumbs down to lady injury,

cheifs will be fine though, anscombe should slot into the No10 and what an awsome replacement that is.
while the chiefs outsidebacks more then have enough class to cover at fullback, im guessing mills will take over the reigns for now.

they also have andrew horrel who is a very proficent flyhlaf, and dont the chiefs have ihaia west in their squad???
if so, west has got some serious attacking flair which could come in real handy, and luckily for the chiefs, SA leg of the tour is now done and dusted.

All Blacks will be fine too, IMO barret has been on form played way better then cruden.
but with carter out of the equation, who will be the back up???
logic dictates that tom taylor will be the back up, but hes played liked poo this season.

could maybe anscombe get a call up??? i doiubt it considering hansens comments about it being unlikely they will introdiuce new players here, but still,,,,,

if crudz is out for the june series, smart money says that taylor or slade will be barrets back up.

Yes, Chiefs & ABs are in good shap e for 10s. It will be good that Cruden gets a rest anyway. Playing all s15 games & then going into the international season is too much for any rugby player. So I look at the bright side
