England have been struck by a trio of injury-enforced withdrawals for Saturday's test against New Zealand, headed by confirmation that Alex Corbisiero has been ruled out.

The injury crisis at loosehead prop has deepened with Corbisiero joining Mako Vunipola on the list of absentees, while wings Marland Yarde and Christian Wade have conceded defeat in their fitness battles.

It is the loss of Corbisiero, a star of the British and Irish Lions' tour to Australia, to a recurring knee problem that will be felt most acutely and England will be hoping desperately that Joe Marler is given the green light to face the All Blacks.

Marler, the last remaining senior loosehead in the squad, was concussed in Saturday's 31-12 victory over Argentina and is following graduated return-to-play protocols.

The Harlequins front row is on course to recover but should he suffer a setback, England will be down to their fourth choice in the position - Wasps rookie Matt Mullan, who at the very least will be named on the bench.

Corbisiero missed the autumn opener against Australia and his latest comeback from knee trouble lasted for only the second half against Argentina.

It is dreadfully unfortunate to say the least, losing the two Props, especially Corbisiero, is a huge blow.

Yarde and Wade, whilst inexperienced, would have hoped to have got their chance at last to have had a decent run in the team and it really is a worry if we have to put out the back line from last week. Mike Brown is playing exceptionally well, as we all knew he would when he was finally given his chance to at Fullback, and Ben Foden played well on the Wing, but he is not the solution there. We need an out and out Winger and those two injured boys are that. I really hope Lancaster might just be brave enough to include someone in the Squad that will fill that role for us, but I doubt it now. I think he will play it safe, especially given the new partnership in the midfield that he will most likely stick with too.
I am not convinced by Tomkins, never have been, I would always prefer the likes of Henry Trinder and many really prefer Luther Burrell, who is a very good player. But he really is very new to all this and they do need to be given time, so ? Twelvetrees is having a strange Autumn Series, but played a lot better last weekend.

I would also always have Danny Care in my match day Squad. I do not understand the obsession with Lee Dickson at all.

Line-out wise, I hope we don't continue the Lawes calling them experiment this week. It's too important !!

It would be nice to send out the same team twice though, I don't believe Lancaster has had that opportunity since he took the helm. So, I think we're doing ok !
Yes, things could be better, but they could also be worse.

We just have to wait and see. All I know is, my Coach is gracious come what may. The same is not said for all.

 Hahahaha!!

Typical early excuses from both NZ and England...

NZ: "We blame the virus/Suzy, etc..."

Eng: "It was all the injuries, I tell ya..."

What are you on about ? A factual article about 4 players being withdrawn from the matchday Squad is hardly making any excuse. They are injured and can't play, simple as that.

With them, I wouldn't expect us to win this year. Last year, I did feel we would win. Regardless of any " virus " or not. I just felt we would, but not by that margin.

They certainly haven't just pulled them from the team !

Such a shame for them not to play, but that's life.
They'll be missed.
