Run the Super Series as a World Cup format

Bring the super series up to 20 teams (incl 1 franchises from Arg and 4 from France/Eng/Ireland and Wales...(Scotland and Italy can play in the ENC 1 where the main contestants are Georgia,Romania and Russia and other comps with Canada and USA...ofcourse this will be a gradual process (surely the maths can be worked on merit but at least it will open doors and give the minnows a crack or two at the bigger uns before being humiliated in WC pool stages...a rather senseless exercise) with 4 pools in the 20...as clubs/franchises develope and are proved worthy in minnow countries there will be opportunities earned to come on board...all players from every franchise are housed in one country /continent...whatever is viable and sustainable...alternating and taking turns annually.

 

This will allow more additions evolving over time when justified. This a bigger vision for rugby, instead of our insular vision.

 

Phase this in to grow...

 

Will generate revenue in the right balance...hotels...tourism...instead of monopoly's and clubs taking the scoop.

 

Rugby can grow universally...scope for other countries to join and less injuries overall...at present it's North against South...wings will have to spread wider for rugby to grow.

 

How you juggle figures cannot be difficult for staticians...might be the answer. This has to worked out by those who have no hidden agendas and by those whose loyalties lie to rugby alone with altruistic motives.

 

The huge advantages will be teams don't travel huge distances...home ground advantage is diminished annually and thereon each country...thereafter the spoils are shared...tourism, hotels etc are boosted...the list is endless.

 

Last but not least the competition attributes will be satisfied in a short space of time with minimum damage to players and allow grassroots rugby more time to grow...within their respective countries.

 

There is so much the human body can take...bear in mind that to reach this level in rugby is almost in itself a super human effort...what is wrong that key and great players are constantly crocked and when the WC comes along your sides are at sixes and sevens with a load of hasbeens and cripples. The survival of the fitest,,,but we know this is not always true...the hardest and best players invariably sit on the sidelines...ie it could be Etzebeth, Carter, PSDT,Lambie, Goosen, Cruden, Mc Caw,Pocock,Bismarck,Cory Jane etc etc...the list is endless. These are not soft men but there is overindulgence in this competition and it shoots rugby in the foot.

 

Also there is a huge need for WC players to not be cannon fodder against sides they never play and are simply knocked out in pool stages. This is very negative for rugby because I'm sure there's huge potential that has not even had a chance to develope and grow. 

one thing the ARU and NZRU should do in the negotiations with SANZAR for the next format, is to make SARU sign something that says the SA super rugby sides and more importantly the Boks will not be have any of their teams selected on any quota basis.

that way the retard sports minister regardless of how much teeth his threats actually has, wouldnt be able to impose any sanctions  without getting a hefty lawsuit punching him in the face.
losing large sums of money hurts everyone no matter the colour.
as long as full strength SA sides are still in the comp, thats all that matters from the uchiha clan point of view.

will be very interesting to see what the new format will look like, realistically they will need to make it as tough as possible for the NZ teams again, the way they did with the spXV format, that way it gives the lesser conferences a fighting chance.
i mean seriously, 4 vs NZ games compared to 8??? o_O

I'm with you with that Sas but I'm talking of a far wider vision. The problem here is self interest and conflict of interest and it goes far beyond ARU,NZRU and SARU...it also would involve other unions in the context of my argument.

 

I certainly do not know how to put the finer details together because the vast differences of interests but surely a wider and less selfish vision is needed for the benefit of rugby worldwide.
