So what the reason for him not being selected?  Here is an article that says he is available.

Rugby Girl they dont select a rugby team on cute looks. Hahahahahaha

But he may well be a better bet than spiesies. However Rugby Girl the man we need back to top form is Duane Vermuelen. For  too long have we indulged show pony forwards - matfield etc.  Juandre is another who does not cut it.

it think he might be in contract wih his jap club i dont know...he is very unlucky not to be in the squad at least. played very well in the sharks game plan. that being said i doubt he will be as good in the HM smash/direct game plan. kanko is better than spies that is fact

On current form he is better than Spies hands down. Well maybe lacking slightly in physicality. I would imagine it is to do with his Japanese contract more than anything.

kankowskis shadows got more physicality then spies. i remember kankowski taking a shoulder tackle from SBW last year which dropped him and he shook it off and got back up and hit the ball up a few phases later.

thought very highly of kankowski then, cos im a big fan of tough hard nuts, which explains why im not a fan of spies.

as for his non selection in the Boks. its the japanese contract for sure which is why kankowski hasnt been selected.
SBW asked for permission to play the first two bledisloe cup tests, but panasonic wanted him to front up for training asap making him unavailable for the All Blacks. i think the japanese clubs want there moneys worth from ALL their stars, but i wouldnt mind seeing kankowski and kaino play side by side, they gonna be hurting a lot of people, lol, :P

Who was it that said if he was called Kan-Bull-Ski, instead of Kan-Cow-Ski that he would have still got selected?

Beeno, get over Duane Vermuelen. Every one of your posts mention something about him or Schalk. He is a good player but not as good as you make out. With Schalk and Duane against the Sharks in the semi Sharks would have still won!! He will never change a game the way you make out. He is a crash ball specialist and thats all he does. We know you view on a big pack but the AB's pack is just as big and all their loosies are better than Vermuelen at his own game. What we need is a Kieren Read style player. The closest we have got to him is Kankowski at the moment. The only loosie in the bok setup that is irreplaceable to me is Juan Smith. He was by far our best player and he has never had a bad game. He was our Kieren Read whilst Schalk was our McCaw and they made Spies look good. You are, however, not wrong about Vermuelen. I think he has it in him to be world class and for a long time, he has been SA rugby's only out and out number 8 as Kanko was playing crap and battling to make the Sharks run on team! We have a lot of 6 and 7's been forced into the 8 mould with no success. Until he can add that other dimension to his game all the time, he just wont be great.. What I would like to see (maybe against Argentina or Aus to start off with) is 6 - Marcell Coetzee 7 - Juan Smith 8 - Vermuelen but 19 - Heinrich Brussouw 20 - Willem Alberts..When you have guys like Pocock and McCaw on the field, things can go wrong pretty quickly at breakdown and you need a guy like Brussouw incase this happens... I know this cant happen because Juan Smith is injured but the Boks miss him or someone like him very badly...We miss a fit Schalk too but passop for marcell. I think he will be a better player in years to come. He carries strong and tackles anything that moves. Great work ethic and its good to see boks have "another Schalk" only much younger. Bodes well for the future. Get rid of Jacques Potgieter. He can not be compared to Coetzee. He dives around constantly making very little impact!!!!!

Like I have said on numerous occasions- before Schalk and Vermuelen were injured- the Stormers physicality could not be contained- we would have won the Super xv if not for these injuries
