Saffex

Like  your Sharks team.   There is a problem though in the backline and that is Francois Steyn.   I know White is very loyal to some players - but if Steyn is not up to standard and unfit - like he was this year - he is not going to make the grade and White's patience will be tested severely.

He has to prove that he can still produce the goods and there are indeed for him a mountain to climb.

The same can be said about Hougaard.   He was injured during most of Super 15 this year - but even when he played it was clear he lost his mojo.   He is likely to be played from the bench initially to see whether he can produce the goods.  I think Pollard will be very lucky to start at flyhalf - Fouche is likely to be first choice in that position.

Flip van der Merwe will be one of the Bulls locks - the question is - who will be his partner.

I think that if Howard is to be in the side he will have to play on the wing.  They are not going to move a proven center (De Allende) to the wing.   Since hey may give De Villiers some rest time - I think that De Allende will be on 12 and De Villiers at 13 for most of the season.    But knowing  Coetzee he is bound to get himself in trouble by selecting De Jongh and Aplon in the starting line -up,  which will be a huge mistake.   

No Mike this no issue with Frans or Hougaard, never has been both are class acts

They may have been regarded as class acts in the past - but this year they were anything but.   I think the main reasons for their poor performances this year were -

*   overweight and unfitness on the part of Steynslowing his speed down to a crawl ; and

*   something wrong in Hougaard's top storey.

Both have to overcome their problems pronto or both will be past tense.   There is no way that players can be included based on reputation - they have to deliver - and neither delivered this year.
