Whereas we have chronic problems in fiinding decent centers I did a review of the players that played in the center positions thus far in Super 15 this year and would like to hear comment on those:-

No 12

Looking at the series thus far - the situation is as follows: -

1.   Jan Serfontein

2.   Damian de Allende

3.   Robert Ebersohn

4    Jean de Villiers

5    Francois Steyn.

Fact is that Steyn failed badly at 12 andd is unliely to play in that position in future.   My first choice is Serfontein - but the ebxt three will not let the team down.

No 13

The problem is most 13.s this year rarely or virtually never saw the ball as the players they played outside o failed in theirbasic functions.   Some - like Engelbrecht had only one good game playing outside Serfontein - outside any other 12 he failed in all the games he played.  Jordaan virtually never got balls to play with and that is also a problem.   I prefer consistency in performance and based on that the position is as follows:-

1.   De Villiers

2.   Engelbrecht - based only on hsi last two games

3.   Jordaan - may go up outside of a reasonable 12

4    Sadie

5    Cooke

7    De Jongh

The younger guys can all still be considered if the teams play rugby if the teams ensure they get a reasonable number of balls per game.   On the whole there wee some problems with the defence of both Engelbrecht and Sadie.   De Jongh failed both in attacking and defensive play - he has been like a sieve in the two games he played and on attack he is totally useless.
