Too small at 10 can be a problem, but Hendrikse is big enough.

……. is Eben Etzebeth. It’s not even close, no other Bok player was mentioned in connection with the World Player of the Year.

The awards were as follows:-

Forward Player of the Year: Siya Kolisi (Springboks | Cell C Sharks)

Backline Player of the Year: Damian de Allende (Springboks)

Defender of the Year: Lukhanyo Am (Springboks | Cell C Sharks)

Best off the Bench: Trevor Nyakane (Springboks | Vodacom Bulls)

Most Improved Player: Lusanda Dumke (Springbok Women | Border)

Fans’ Choice Award: Duane Vermeulen (Springboks | Vodacom Bulls)

Players’ Player of the Year: Cheslin Kolbe (Springboks)

No sign of Etzebeth in the above list.  De Allende was the key to backline play this year and his award is not surprising.

There is no chance in hell that Kolisi was better than Eben. Ende. The same counts for Allende. Am and mamimpi actually scored tries.

These selections were made by the players themselves  and not by the media or for that matter anybody else.    there must be some reason for the non-selection of Etzebeth not supported by the players.

Nope, maybe the players are better judges of Kolisi's worth...Eben was great, but Sia was very good too...very underappreciated around here.

I think so too, but for me it's very close...and it seems the players think Siya edged it.

AJ, I beg to differ...sometimes his ability to speak on camara gets confused with his leadership or playing ability...he's not a public speaker, but he's a good hybrid player and much better than given credit for...I called him as a contender before the results were known...he's more than good enough.

Differ we may but voting him as the SA rugby player of the year over Eben is pure BS.

He is not a great captain or player.

He cannot even secure a regular starting spot for the Sharks.

Most tests he has to be replaced around 60 minutes.

Why?

Same reason we replace our front row...and him not starting for the Snarks is strategic...him, Thor and PSDT...no other loosies come even close, not even Kwagga.

Well all this stuff is such emotional twaddle. Take the Mapimpi supporters. Look at the first test try Callaway scores and the utterly pathetic  defence Mapimpi produces. He can do one thing…run in overlaps. His defence is abysmal.

Kolisi is only in the team because our other forwards do the hard work….in that sense he reminds me of Luke Watson,

Allende lost the Pom test and wasted vast amounts of ball….the only reason the players vote for him is because they read and believe the same rubbish many forum members do. Allende was the key to our backline play…..he was the reason it was toothless.

Etzebeth was clearly our player of the year, just like Vermeulen was in 2019.

Are you talking about the Andrew Callaway try? Le roux and MM both stuffed up in that try. Australia,s backline is deadly at times. In general our defence can be much better...MM can score tries though, his defence does need attention.

Springboks played 13 tests, won 8 lost 5 = Boks win percentage 61. 5% All Blacks played 15 tests, won 12 lost 3= AB win percentage 80% Don’t understand the world ranking system. But clearly a great year is going a bit to far.

That nonsense you spout about De Allende losing the POM test is  total BS as per normal. Th defense was lined up and De Allende ould not see how a missed tackle on his inside  was his responsibility.    If De Allende  moved to his inside to cover the ball-carrier  and the latter pass the ball there would have been a space  for the recipient to run into and then De Allende w ould be blamed by you for that deficiency.   Show some sense  for a change please.

Mpower welcome back - you used to use  number of user names in the past and  imbecility caused me to call you Kindergarten Imbecile  - but that may have to change if you stop eing attacking Erasmus in the past and rate undeperforming players ahead of performing ones in the past.   And your winning percentage is wrong too - use a calculator - if  you do not mind.

Mike you say:

Th defense was lined up and De Allende ould not see how a missed tackle on his inside  was his responsibility.    If De Allende  moved to his inside to cover the ball-carrier  and the latter pass the ball there would have been a space  for the recipient to run into and then De Allende would be blamed by you for that deficiency.   Show some sense  for a change please.

……….

You obviously haven’t even looked at the incident. Dud did come come to the inside where Jantjies was tackling the inside man…..leaving a barnyard gap  through which Marchant ran.

Very similar to the second Oz test where, faced with a 2 on 1 he lamely trotted onto the outside man leaving a barnyard gap through which the Koroibete ran for a try. Willemse showed how you handle this you cut down the inside man’s passing time by moving aggressively into him.

…

Two test losing defensive errors,

BS baffles brain again - I heard this type of tripe before when Mostert missed two tackles and Du Toit was blamed for the misses.   You have never missed out  on misrepresenting what happened in matches and then conjure up an unsubstantial  epic.
