SA schools loosehead 2013

Thomas du Toit, who has signed for the Sharks U19 side, along with Steph du Toit's younger brother, Johan who is a blindside flanker.

Simply put, Thomas is a machine. A player for Sharks fans to get very excited about. Thomas weights 132kg and recently tested the best of all the new Sharks players meaning that his power and speed were off the charts. He in fact ran a 5.4 seconds for the 40m dash which is insane. He’s a good ball carrier in the loose and looks to have a sound scrumming technique.

Thanks for the info.   Can you remember which school(s) Thomas and Johan du Toit played for?   I cannot remember seeing them playing for the National School team against the  England, Wales and France school teams in August though - but that could have been the result of race-based selections.  

Just one more thing.   The Sharks slipped up by not contracting Duhan van der Merwe as a wing.   This guy was the top player in Craven week this year and we will see a lot of him in future.   He is 1,94 and weighs 96 kgs.  Will show Engelbrecht and Basson a clean pair of heels in any race.

Johan du Toit can ay most be 19 years old if he is the younger brother of Pieter-Steph.   I must admit I did not watch most of the Vodacom and Group 1 CC matches - so am not aware of his performances for Boland.   Hope he is more the size of Pieter-Steph and not the sixe of his lightweight and smaller grandfather - Piet Spiere.

Thanks.   The Sharks n eed desperately a real no 7 flank.  They have a dolt and a fat ou at present that cannot compete at pace.    Will watch out for him in future.
