The SuperRugby tournament is in tatters, with another season of this nonsense planned for 2020- only to finally change in 2021 back to what it was.
More players are now in Europe than in the Southern Hemisphere.
In the past, the big draw has been to play against New Zealand backlines players- and to some degree Australian teams - or least the Super12 Ozzie teams.
However, with so many of these type of players now in Northern Hemisphere, SuperRugby has less appeal. The whole format is stuffed, and new teams (Other than Jaguars) have fared badly, and for the most part a waste of space.
This has diluted the various teams- and put some players on the field that are frankly not worthy of our attention. Then with players going overseas- and playing in Pro14- means SA may as well be in it.
The travel demands are much less, and it is the same time zone.
The Bulls and Lions could put together one team for each tournament, and the Sharks and Stormers one team for each tournament.
The Pro14 is an embarrassment, even if many of the teams contain Southern Hemisphere players.
There is no point putting a team in SupeRugby if everyone in the backline players can't catch or pass to the standard required of a professional sportsperson. The will just get exposed - and blunder basic opportunities of the draw pass and pass to capitalise on overlaps opportunities of fast Southern Hemisphere pitches

Our forward depth can match the Pro14 - and kicking is a bigger part with tight defences.
