SA squad for the RC to b nnounced on Monday

Unlike the case of Meyer (who emptied out the hospital wards when announcing squads) - the squad announcement is being delayed o Monday to make sure there are no players from the Lions who could have been injured in the game today and may not qualify for the RC.  

Lucky enough there was none and the squad should include some Lions players such as Marx, Combrinck and Mostert, pluas a few of the finge players. 

Etzebeth has not played a ingle match since November last year and I do not think that he would be included.   Another player whowould not make it is De Jager.

So here is the potential squad

OB      -      Le Roux, Dyantyi, Mapimpi, Combrinck, Skosan

CE      -      De  Allende, Kriel, Esterhuizen

FH      -      Pollard, Willemse

SH     -       De Klerk, Van Zyl, Papier

BR     -       Kolisi, Brink, J-L du Preez, Whiteley, Wiese, Notshe

LO     -       Snyman, Du Toit, Mostert

PR     -       Louw, Nyakane, Malherbe, Du Toit, Mtawarira, Kitshoff, Schoeman

HO     -       Marx, Mbonambi, Van der Merwe. 

Another three players will be added to bring the squad to 36 players.   That is the number normally provided for in the squad - so as to cater for injuries.  I already indicated three scrummies and three hookers.   So the additions could include another loosie, a center and another outside back. 

Only one lonely fullback?

I would have thought that Nkosi would at least feature in Rassies' plans.

Skosan? Combrinck? I doubt we'll see either of them in the mix.

Is Vermeulen available for the RC?

Ja, I don't see Combrinck making the side. Not good enough on the wing. There is a few so called quotas that's way better.

The only merited players of colour in my opinion are Willemse, Nkosi and Dyanti with Papier banging on the door. 

Sadly the whiteys dominate the entire pack of 8 players as well as their bench cover.

As for the backline ... we have some serious issues in the midfield ... both black and white.

I put Combrinck in as full back back up - since Gelant is not available.   He has been good in the past few games.   The other alternative is Goosen - but he had virtually no rugby this year.

The problem with the centers is well-known - the glass is near to empty - but I cannot see anything better than the three mentioned.   All three Black potentials are for the birds - Mapoe, Mnisi and Am are no-no's.  All three are on par with De Jongh and we all know he is useless.

Erasmus has tried out a multitude of players in June and he may brig in alternatives to replace those who were not up to standard.   That includes Ralepelle and a variety of others, - inclusive of Jantjies,

I think Erasmus would continue looking at alternatives to fit into the 2019 WC and some of the older players will not fit into his older players.   By the way I vaguely remember that Vermeulen ruled himself out of the RC - so I must change the above selection accordingly.

Combrinck is too slow for test rugby. That list of centres is the worst I have ever seen for the Boks. Its going to be a rather long campaign
