The problem with back line functioning and lack of scoring tries have been extensively in the media and on this site dealt with in the media and also on this site. The problems are clearly identified, but what has not been dealt with is how the flyhalfs and centers - the core of the problems are performing, As goal kicking is not relevant to backline functioning that component has not been dealt with.
In dealing with the ratings given the following was borne in mind:-
* Reading of games - decision making
* Ball skills and handling
* Running lines/speed
* Ability to make line breaks/beat defenders
* Try scoring record
* Effective strategic kicking
* Defense
Flyhalfs
Potgieter = 6,5/10

Jordaan = 6,5/10
Sithole = 6/10
The above does not reflect an acceptable center situation. Most of our centers are basically guilty of unthinking rugby - running straight at the first defender - inability to effect line breaks/beat defenders - sub-standard ball handling - questionable defense,
I an acceptable norm is 6,5/10 we only have four centers who make the grade on Super 15 level - the rest are all sub-standard.
