That would not be surprising. Instant gratification mindset is very strong in SA rugby (and elsewhere as shown by the appalling record in exporting the SA environment)
Not so longer ago, a SA player tried to break his contract so he could be granted a better wage. Instant gratification. No notion of work. The gimme gimme crowd.
Guy already had a luxury wage, could have respected rugby values until the end of the season. Played for his club, for the supporters, the teammates and then got an agreement to leave the club.
Nope, the player was driven by instant gratification, he let everyone on their bums.
The way the issue was handled could be a solution for SA rugby as the player was held accountable for his treason. Probably due to SA history, he thought he could have got out without facing the consequences of his action as so many had in SA in the past.
The player was deprived from playing for two years. It might have helped his case and taught him the value of work.
Nevertheless, it is another stone to the termination of SA rugby case.
