Springboks

15 Willie le Roux, 14 Cornal Hendricks, 13 Jan Serfontein, 12 Jean de Villiers (captain), 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Handré Pollard, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Duane Vermeulen/Schalk Burger, 7 Teboho Mohoje, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Tendai Mtawarira.

Replacements:

16 Adriaan Strauss, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Marcel van der Merwe, 19 Bakkies Botha, 20 Schalk Burger/Warren Whiteley, 21 Cobus Reinach, 22 Pat Lambie, 23 JP Pietersen.

The above lot struggld - without much success for 70 minutes against the Aussies - and only after those 70 minutes did two of the replacements initiated play that ensure a win for the Springboks.

The passengers will not help them against the All Blacks and there were a few of them in the game against the Aussies - those who produced nothing.    The above eam will npot beat the All Blacks .

 Schalk on the bench?
Sorry that is a shocker.

Yeh average team. Good backline. But i would of made the following ammendments.
1. Tendai 2. Strauss 3. Marcel Van Der Merwe 4. Matfeild (currently no one else) 5. Estebeth 6. Coetzee 7. Burger 8. Vermulen 9. Reinach 10. Pollard 11. Habana 12. Serfointain 13. Jdv 14. Hendricks 15. Wille Le Roux
16. Bismark 17. Nyakene 18. Jannie 19. Lood 20. Whitely/Mohoje 21. Houggard 22. Pat Lambie 23. JP Peterson
Obviousley Houugard is more of a starter. But Reinach offers more penatration on attack tbh. Bakkies shouldent be any where the team same goes for Jannie. But who else replaces them? With this team pretty much the same from Wellington. If Abs get parity at the breakdown, im picking the Abs its not in their dna to lose atm.

3ku1 you have to be kidding......no one else for Matfield.......geez are you crazy?

Move Etzebeth to 5 where he has played some games and play the very physical and impressive Willemse at 4.......or play Lood at 5 with Etzebeth at 4, or Etzebeth at 4 with Jacques du Plessis at 5, or Etzebeth at 4 with Lewies at 5...........these are all far better options than old man Matfield in the side.

Matfield would not make my Bok squad of 100 players, nor would Bakkies

Disapponting again from Meyer. while I do not back the Boks to lose why do we shoot ourslef in the foot like this!
Its the pack that most concerns me. If Duane is fit and Schalk starts at 7 it's not too bad although victor should be there and Marcel before Jannie. If Duane not fit and oupa starts We have too many sub par players in the pack.
Our pack against Oz had about parity until the last 10 minutes or so. Not good enough!
Give Reinach at least 20 minutes.

What the team should have been:

15 Willie le Roux, 14 Cornal Hendricks, 12. Jan Serfontein, 13. Jean de Villiers (captain) de Allende,11 Bryan Habana JP, 10 Handré Pollard, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Duane Vermeulen/Schalk Burger, 7 Teboho Mohoje J.du Plessis, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 4. Victor Matfield Willemse, 5. Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis M.v/d Merwe, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Tendai Mtawarira.

Replacements:

16 Adriaan Strauss, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Marcel van der Merwe, Coenie 19 Bakkies Botha, Lood 20 Schalk Burger/Warren Whiteley, Carr 21 Cobus Reinach, 22 Pat Lambie, 23 JP Pietersen. JJ

If Vermeulen is out, play Coetzee at 8 with Carr at 6 and du Plessis at 7, with Whiteley on the bench.

This is a far, far better side that would beat the AB's at home.

Huge moaning at the team that the Twin Towenaars claimed was going to lose last week. We had a big win, nobody played badly....it was the obvious call.

Moffie will be pleased with the selection because he thinks the Springboks are playing the Eagles this week-end.

Am I the only one that thinks this team is decent? Its not perfect, but they are good enough to have a decent go. I'd leave out Jannie, and swap Mahoje and Burger around, and I am not mad about Matfield, but he is better than the others that could replace him, but FFS, it could be much worse!
For those of you saying this is such terrible team, please bear in mind that basically this same terrible team nearly beat the AB's at home a couple of weeks ago. According to you lot, one or two changes and we should be beating the AB's by 40 game after game.

There are clearly a few players that should not be on the bench specifically Marcel Van der Merwe, Warren Whitely, Strauss, and Reinach. In spite of some of the bad selections the boks can still win if they can make use of the opportunities with less errors. If the players are rotated sooner than later it will increase the chances, hopefully Reinach gets more game time.

As I've said before it isn't the case of who p erforms well occasionally its about who performs well constantly most of the time that is important, Jannie and De Villiers does not, FACT. The two tries from De Villiers was nothing special, he was just there at the right time, most centres would've score that try and yet I still see the public and articles overrating De Villiers. This year De Villiers hasn't played good enough, he does not pass when there is overlaps and he doesn't give others opportunities that often, last week was no different. Having said that there will be a vulnerability in the backline in that aspect with De Villiers. I am expecting Fekitoa or Crotty to easily outplay De Villers. The best centre option is Serfontein at 12, De Allende at 13. or JP at 13. But Meyer has lost the plot and it is one out of the many reasons the springboks have failed to win the RC this year.

It is generally a good team. I would agree with Blobok in that it would be nice to have different players in certain positions, but often the alternatives are either not much better or are still to green.
The worst of the list are--Jannie Duplessis (Totally useless tacker) and Mohoje. Mohoje is a decent player, but does not have the work rate required. Given he was not even a starer for the Cheetas, he is a quota. Schalk needs to replace him asap.
Is Trevor Knakayne a loose head, tight head or both? I would rather have him replace Jannie if he can play tight head, and bring in Schalk as a loosie.
-Schalk Burger apparently had 17 carries in his 25 minutes on the pitch, which I believe was higher than anyone in the team that played 80 minutes. He also made it over the advantage line, unlike many of the forwards.

The problem last Saturday was at minute 65 the Springboks were 10-8 behind.   That shows that there are serious problems in ou starting line-up.  The last few scrums involving Jannie and Beast was disastrous.  We showed very little signs of actuallu taking the elad - before th drop kick of Lambie.   The followed a series of breaks that gave usthe upper hand in the last ten minutes of the game.
That being said at halftime the Wallaby lead was 10-5.   Taking into account the performances of th various teams - the AB lead will be 21-6 at half time.   The startoing ;line up is just too weak to show anything against the AB's.

Oh so now we have to be ahead at a particular point in the game....look stop talking rubbish you old fool....it was classical Boks subdue and penetrate. As for your pathetic predictions, they are a standing joke.

Get it through your sub par brain....no international coach would pick Marcel ahead of Jannie for such a key test. It's only a consideration amongst those who have no responsibilty for the result....like you.

Not the worst team ever but also could have been a hell of a lot better. One thing for sure is if we put together 70 minutes of very average rugby like against Australia, we'll get blown out of the water by the All Blacks. They're ruthless, congrats to all the New Zealander's on here on the RC btw.

What I have noticed though is that although we were shafted against Oz in Oz you latch on to that as a genuine loss to prove your point. Lets have some integrity please.

Nah. It's been done and debated enough times. If you were not so dishonest, I would have gone through the trouble of doing it. Problem is that your own posts have been quoted verbatim and then you still deny that you have said it. What is more, everybody one here has read those posts and have agreed that yoy have actually made those predictions. The only one who would probably agree with you is your sweetheat and maybe the chilli.
