All of the SA teams are running the ball more. It is good to see them using the backline. Certain types of players are more suited to the running game such as Libbok, so this might influence selections on the SA URC teams going forward- and perhaps the Boks as well.
Will Rasnaber take notes and get more expansive?
Libbok was a journeyman that was not suited to traditional 10-man rugby, but is excelling in a more skilful game plan
Maybe the Sharks will win this year. They looked good in the 2nd half when more Boks entered the game.
SA teams running the ball in the URC
Contradictions and their management are natural for advanced brains.
This team looked better when certain players entered. Those players being a) suitable for a running the play approach b) not even 10 man rugby but trying to avoid playing rugby and preventing others from playing rugby.
That noted, rugby may be played with a destructive mindset as shown by SA rugby, not only they destroy the game but also focus on destroying other players physically.
This approach is not suitable for a long league season, bodies wont endure the trauma.
Up to now, all this stuff about running the ball play is taken from games that do not show the destructive approach.
Pointless.
Will Rasnaber take notes and get more expansive?
He cant. He does not have the players to play more expansive.
Rugby in SA is a lifeline for a segment of population in SA. They get their ticket out from playing rugby. They must appear good even when they are not.
End of the game.
Any game plan will be reduced to this requirement. Expansive play would reveal all theirs shortcomings. They can not afford it.
The head coach knows it.
This is some of the best running rugby from SA teams in years. There seems to be a shift in player mindset, or coaching.
