Although you may be disappointing with your test rugby results I can assure you that you are doing very well for a first timer. However, what is clear is that you are learning very quickly and will be more competitive in future.
The key in fact is to try and find the tryscorers in games - each try counts a 100 points and if you get players scoring three tries - like I did this week - you get an additional 100 points. That quickly push up your total points.
However, with only 12 players in the Test Rugby squad it remains a bit of a lottery and less interesting than the position is in the Foxsport equivalent of the game. Let me be more explicit:-
* In Foxsport it is much more difficult as you have to have a team of 15 players - with 8 bench players.
* That does not mean that you can earn points on bench players - you only do that id there is a late withdrawal of a player and your bench player starts in any of the other games. Take for instance the following example - if you have Bismarck on the bench and Strauss starting and something happened like the case was with O'Connell and Strauss is withdrawn - you will get points on Bismarck.
* The bench is rather for a different purpose. Let me explain again. The Stormers has a by un Round 1. I would normally select Malherbe as a prop and would do so for the next Round - so I put him on the bench for Round 1. Bench players can be transferred to team players without them being counted as transfers - so it is a strategy to be used to eliminate potential transfers to the minimum and allow for only very real transfer requirements.
* In view of budgetary restrictions the bench can also be used for budgetary purposes - you can put is cheap players with real prospects and save money to get more expensive starters.
As stated before - it is not necessary to watch all matches - in fact most members don't - but it definitely enhance the interest of spectators to watch out for players they like and consequently select for their squad.
You have an excellent knowledge of SA players - better than most site members - so I would like to invite you to join the Foxsport series as well. In any event Round one only include SA teams and none of them has a by in Round 2. I am sure once you get used to it - and learn from experiences gained - you will be very competitive.
There are already 18 members of this site involved in that one and I am sure all of those hope you will join as well. The big mouths like Mozart, boklogic ceradyne and Sun Tzu are too cowardly to join - since there ridiculous claims on players are thoroughly disproved during the competition.
So co me on - join in the fun
