is Ruan Botha the young lock we have acquired from the Lions?

I am not too concerned about our locks as Elstadt could fit in there as can Rhoses. So we have Etzebeth, Bekker, Steenkamp plus Elstadt and Rhodes. Rhodes though is more of a seven. Elstad tis pretty good at lock and 7.

He looks a good prospect, very good in the line-outs. Tall lad at 2.03m and weighs in at a respectable 115kg.

He is more the athletic type of lock, not your enforcer, far better prosepct than Steenkamp.

Good to know as he will fill out a bit and probably weigh in at a resepctable 120kg in  a year or so. Nice to know he is athletic. Will watch out for him. Steenkamp does a job for us. Not a Bok prospect fo rsure.

Gld to hear that Saffex.

This means he can develop into a very good number 5 to partner Etzebeth at WP in the future. However he has alot of competition.

Beeno seriously though, Steenkamp does the job at the moment. but we really could do better.

Then again when will Bekker be back?

Ek I have heard zip about Bekker but hopefully he will have a good injury free season. They need to manage him carefully.

Steenkapmp is ordinary. I suspect we will see more of Elstadt at lock this year with Rhodes and Armand being the big number 7s.

Elstadt at 1.98 m and 118 kg is a nice enforcer type lock and also mobile. He and Etzebeth might just be the Bok locks ths year as I suspect Du Toit dispite snapster and Mike's protestations  is still too green and is he a better prospect in any case - could be a bit faster than Elstadt but we need to see him against equivalent opposition - all very well to appear pacy at under 21 level but Super 15 is a big step up. Elstadt has at least had two years of Super 15 already and has proved he can mix it.

The big loss was Quinton Roux. I am also wondering if Koster will be back.

Steenkamp is poor and its a travisty that Coetzee kept selecting this guy over Quinn Roux, who as a result left for Ireland. Lets just hope Roux returns to SA, he is another Etzebeth hard nut who should have played for the Stormers all S15 last year. Coetzee is a fool
