Don't exactly know what - but it could be fatal.   Meyer called up Aplon to join the squad, because of the injury to Krichner.   I would not have done that - since the Stormers themselves play Joe Pietersen at 15 and Aplon at wing.   To my mind Pietersen would have been the better choice to call up.

Saffex - please do not cry - Aplon is small - but he will not let the team down.     I think Lambie will start at 15 and Aplon will be on the bench.   In  any event I believe - and do not accuse me of provincialism - that Aplon is a better attacking player and defender than Kirchner.   That opens up a variety of options for Meyer.    He can bring in Aplon as a wing or full back - replacing the cart horse in this case - or he can move Lambie to 10 and replace him with Aplon.

By the way another change to the bench would be to replace Olivier with Engelbrecht on the bench.

The only thing Kirchner should do better than Aplon is catch the high ball. Aplon is a far more certain tackler in open field where fullbacks do their work. He also has a more consistent boot and is far more dangerous on the run. And actually if our fullback had to take a high ball at the end of a tight test, I'd still pick Aplon.....he has more nerve.

i rate krichners defense over aplons, but i rate aplons attack as one of the top 5 deadliest attackers in the world, very similar to habana, and aplon is small, but joe pieterson isnt that much bigger and aplons attack and versatility at wing/fullback, plus his recent Bok level experience, gives him a good edge.
i still think they should bring p grant at 10, especially as lambie will now start, or at least he should.
dropping jp pieterson on the bench ensure that the bench still has plenty of class in its depth and his ability to play 11-15 is a big plus also, but that means moving olivier out all together, who i personally dont rate.

my Boks backline and subs,,,,

9 hougaard, 10 m steyn, 11 b habana, 12 f steyn, 13 JDV, 14 g aplon, 15 p lambie
20 r pienaar, 21 p grant, 22 jp pieterson

The Stormers themselves play Jean De Villiers at 12 and Heyneke has him at 13. No issue with that then....................

As long as Aplon does not start, I am happy. Kirchner is better than Aplon in every respect and suited to test rugby given his size - Aplon is not.

Mike Joe is injured hence the fact that he was not considered.

Lambie will start at 15 as he should have in the first test.

JJ on the bench for Olivier would be my call as well
