Is it another case of you going quiet after disastrous performances by players you always support as Springboks?

Mike I can't see you manning up about Taute's weak display at 15...... the fact that de Allende was outplayed by Wynand Olivier......Jean had a fine game....Morne was very professional.....Coenie and Kitshoff were drilled big time......Coetzee lost the ball in the carry on several occasions.

Let me guess, you want to go on about Jantjies.....who everybody knows had a shocker. Look we have all had a go at the kid for his poor game, but frankly I had forgotten about his father. Let's cut Jantjies some slack, he has just gone through some rough times. And while he may not be Bok material, he was quite effective in last year's S15.....he will do better.

Mozart

Let me get into some secrets.  I do overall evaluation of players as per overall performances and noy infividual happenings.   I look at the assessment of players by worldd experts and then make my selections.   Your gunning for Coetzee is crap.   He was rated as the second best loosie in Super 15 this weekend the other one being Pocock.

Morne Steyn came in as fourth best flyhalf in the SA Conference after Lambie, Goosen and Catrakillis and that is a fact.   Goalkicking is not the only criterium for a flyhalf -  even though you may think so.

I never rated anything about the performances of Kitshoff and Oosthuizen - now did I?   I was very scathing about Kitshoff's performance and never said anything about Oosthuizen.

I have sympathy for Jantjies in his personal capacity.   However, all his weak points - which I dealt with in earlier postings - were all in evidence.  Poor defence, - playing like Morne standing so deep in the pocket - he may as well have been standing in the car park - poor passing and strategic kicking  were all in evidence this weekend to an exteremely bad degree.   And then his goal kicking - his only real strong point - deserted him as well.   Don't think he can overcome his weaknesses - maybe he can do better kicking at goal - but that also is a gamble.  He should be replaced and sent to play in the Vodacom Cup until he recovers his confidence - if ever.

Incidentally - De Villiers polayed at 13 this week and he had a very average game.   Based on evidence as to the game all round as a 13 - both Venter and Jordaan  outplayed him in that position.  Olivier  was comprehensively outplayed at 12 by Fracois Steyn.   Blinkers does not help in identifying player performances - and using individual incidents and genralizing from there shows lack of real analysis ability.

Coetzee ran 12 times for 18 metres and turned the ball over twice. There is no statistical basis or actual basis for him being the 2nd best loosie. Was your research...Fantasy rugby?

As for Jordaan being better than Jean, he was playing in a wide open game. Sadie actually outgained him 72 metres to 54 metres with one less carry.

And as for Venter ....both had small yardage but Jean outgained him with  less carries......and Venter was obliterated by Bekker on his way to score.

As for Steyn outplaying Wynand. Steyn had the lowest metres per carry of any starting back in the Cheetahs/Sharks game.

Mike get your facts straight.

You really are something - you ignore things you want to ignore-  like Coetzee scoring a try as well.  Nice try in denigrating him.

You are always going to denigrade players you don't like - and try to base your assessment on individual instances.     In the process you forget about the wider impact the player concerned has had as well.  Steyn did a very good job for the Sharks - De Villiers contributed less than anybody at center.   I think all of Sadie, Venter and Jordaan was much better at 13 than he was - and you conveninetly did not provide his statsand those of the others in detail - like you did with Steyn.   Blikers-blinkers-blinkers.

Puleeeze....the try Coetzee scored was just the bounce of the ball. All he had to do was pick it up and flop forward. I saw him time and again over the the ball on the deck.....not once was he able to extract the pill. If that was Louw the Sharks would have had 4 turnovers. It takes a special player to really commit to the ball on the ground and the pounding that entails. We need a Louw, not a guy who is just a tackler.

As for your take on centres, it's your usual rubbish. Jean intervened in two try scoring situations by rushing up and killing the overlap, Venter got splattered by Bekker for a try....yet Venter was better than Jean? Balls!

As for Fransie, to me he looked just like last year....slow and not a factor. The lowest metres gained by any back on both sides. Frankly I was amazed he was still on park at the end of the game, he wasn't visible once the game speeded up.

Mike and you are speaking shit and displaying your rugby ignorance again. Hougaard was our best 9 and Jantjies was solid with a poor goal kicking display
