Never before had the Japs beaten the Welsh until this weekend so could this be a year of upsets?
We've already seen embarrassing losses to Portugal and the like by the Blitzboks this year indicating rugby is alive and well where you'd least expect it.
And of course Kiwi coaches can't take all the credit even if they are dominating the coaching world.
Even if the Boks should sneak a win over Samoa it will leave a likely looking Bulls outfit ragged going into SuperXV semifinals.
All the better for the Kiwis to take out the Super XV again this year.
Certainly the Boks will have to bring their A game to beat a buoyed Manu Samoa that's brimming with confidence and surfing a winning wave.
