SARugby should have a new coach in place before the end of January

No more flipping indabas, whether they are for coaches or administrators. No more extraneous agendas.....make a list of the 10 best available coaches.....study their records......talk to the top three. Contract one, take Coetzee out of his nightmare.

 Good idea, and WHEN the top three all decline, then talk to the next three and WHEN they decline, move on to the next three and WHEN decline, move on to the next three...... See where this is leading? My guess is that that was more or less what has happened and which is why we ended up with Coetzee.

100% Cera. No Decent international coach would throw away his reputation with the political interference that he will be contractually bound to live with. 

 Rassie wanted the job and left because he didn't get it. I'm not really a fan, but surely he would be better? He is a good strategist and has an eye for competent staff and players with potential.

How much say will any of these coaches, who might want this job, have with the choosing of  their coaching assistants.

 OK, Draad, I know that I will have Beeno breathing down my neck for what I am about to say. Rassie is a journeyman. Many are on Jake White's case but he is nothing compared to Rassie when it comes to loyalty. He has proven it time and again. His only claim to fame was the fact that he won the CC once at Loftus. The next year, he could not try the same trick again and he was not going to have the same luck again, so the final ended in a draw in Bloem, IIRC.

While he was at the Cheetahs he, like a true Cheetah, was always crying about the other teams poaching the Cheetahs players. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, he was doing exactly the same by raping the Pumas of their best players. Duane Vermeulen is a perfect example. Phillip Burger was another and if I really want to go dig a bit, I will probably find the names of the others.

When he dumped the Cheetahs, in the deep water, for the WP he did exactly the same with the Cheetahs players. He, once again, dragged Duane Vermeulen along. He also bullied Tiaan Liebenberg away from the Cheetahs. Again, there were others as well. Then there was the Brian Habana issue where Bernie, Brian's dad, was involved. They, Bernie and Rassie told the media and everybody else the same BS story. They said that it was time to renew Brian's contract with the Bulls and Brian and Bernie were just trying to determine Brian's "Market Value" prior to their negotiaions with the Bulls. The next moment they signed him. Wackhead Simpson even pranked Rassie at the time. It is on YouTube. Do not forget the Jaque Fourie saga as well.

Need I go on about Rassie? There is more. I haven't even touched on his so-called coaching abilities.

 This should not be stopped at coaches. SA is lagging behind in all departments.

There also should be a list of players that could be attracted to SA and later on, added as selection players.

The credible chances that SA rugby can turn into winner rugby come when coaches and players alike are not South African players.

When SA manage to get AB players in the SA shirt, then it is talking.

Already mentioned, the best of it that, following the squandering of SA wealth, the needed players are going to be non white players. SA will mostly be able to attract non white players.

Changing the coach only wont work wonders. You need to replace SA players. They are too limited in their skillsets to play anything but loser rugby.

He's made a "tradition" out of combining both the weird and the annoying into a new breed of nonsensical. Mike seems pretty adamant that Coetzee will stay. In reality I think it's impossible for him to remain. He probably lost the dressing room halfway through the season already. Unless some political master stroke helps her m keep his job, Wales was probably his last hi profile game in charge for a while.

I have to disagree chaps, the Boks have fallen so far any coach will be inoculated against somewhat poor performance, and a hero if he turns the ship around. I think we would have many interested parties if the salary is competitive and the coach can stay in CapeTown.

 There may be some fools prepared to accept a coaching job - but the way SAR went about the appointment of Coetzee was a disaster.   The post was not advertised and there was no real scrutiny of the candidates at all.   The total aim was to appoint Coetzee and he was factually the only candidate considered.
There is no vacancy and Coetzee will retain his job for another year - that can be deduced from the latest newspaper reports.   The assistant staff will be fired and as a sob to the public it will be announced that Coetzee will be free to select his own assistants.
Then as to the Rassie issue and the misfits Ceradunce story above.   Rassie did not continue with the WP coaching for an entirely different reason from what the Dunce wrote above.   The WP/Stormers set up was a political hotbed and the  idea was to replace Erasmus with Coetzee and make Rassie Director of Rugby - it did happen and while Rassie was around the WP/Stormers did well enough.
When he was then appointed by SARU Coetzee was on his own and the whole WP/Stormers system collapsed - Coetzee was not up to standard at all.  
There is no real indication that what the Liar wrote above is not his normal garbage in an effort to run down Erasmus.    The fool obviously does not realize that coaches do make recommendations as to the coaching of players - but the final decision is not his to make - but the Union.   It happens every year in SA and the few examples he mentioned is just a fool trying to pretend he knows something.   Fact is it even starts before players leave school.
Meantime his hero White did worse - he raided a lot of teams in SA wwhen he was appointed at Montpellier.   Although Willemse and the Du Plessis brothers were contracted before  White's arrival and the latter two could not get out - the fact is White's raiding of players than Erasmus ever did.
Just correcting the whole BS story of the Ceradunce idiot .

 Mike it's always a major mission to pin down cerudunce windpomp!Windpomp you made a promising start in a long winded way regarding decent coaches declining the Bok job. It has to be doubtful if a top coach would accept the job given anc involvement.As to Rassie you simply cannot understand the sheer brilliance of Rassie - possibly our greatest rugby brain. It' s like an intellectual  mouse trying to  challenge an intellectual lion.

 Oaks the facts are simply a great coach will help BUT we will never regain our natural number one spot unless there is a radical overhaul.  There is very little chance of the needed radical overhaul ever taking place. Its one case where I hope I am proved wrong.

 Beeno, why don't you try and pinpoint all of Rassie's coaching achievements. Would make for an interesting read.

Look no further than SA shores for the next coach.
What is needed is a coach who has been through the rough and tumbled of test rugby and has the inside track on all facets of play.
One who has shown that as a fly-half he was able to dictate play and win games at all levels irrespective of the conditions or the standard and class of the opposing team.
It is thus clear that this coach must stand head and shoulders above all other candidates and meet the SARU transformation agenda.
U can speculate all u want but the only person who is capable of meeting with all these requirements is non other than........

Yes, the answer to all SA rugby supporters dreams.
