I just saw this on social media. I was surprised, but I suppose other than Pollard and Morne Steyn, the Boks have had a high turnover of flyhalves.

Many of Sasha's tries seem like soft tries. They are not, but he just makes them look easy.

Like when he scored off the quick tap against Wales yesterday, there were 2 tacklers on either side, but somehow he just ghosted his way through a non-existent gap between them.

He seems to alter his pace, change running lines and has a good hand off that lets him break the defence line.

Christian Cullen had that style of running where tacklers just seemed to fall off him.

As far as I can remember in the two years as a Springbok scored 172 points for he Springboks and played fpr anther decade as a Springbok fl yalf his points scored will be way over the record held by Pollard, The fact is that Pollard and Morne Steyn scored in their whole careeer scored less tries per tests played than Sacha did in a career of 2 years than they did,

He is a doifferent kind of player and more athletic then those two layers were when it comes to pace and reading of games and can score tries that other SA flyhalfs had and is a type of player rather unique in that as well.

I woder how he is going to do in the URC and ECC matches this season of the two tournaments. He has thus ar in the URC this ear he played in only one match and will play and would play in his first match in the ECC on Sarturday against Bayonne. In 2024 he was injured and only played in the later URC matches only, When he started at flyhalf in 2024-25 and was instrumental in moving the Stormers up from ranked 13 to 5 - thus allowing for the Stormers to play n the quarterinals of the tournament. His Stormers replacement Matthee said he learnt a lot from Sacha in flyhalf play abd if that continues he may be in the Springbok squad in the 2027 RWC. Since on URC level. In his first URC series this year he had 64 points scored in 5 matches played and that in itself showed what he learned from Sacha.

That is why he has devloped as a top class player and is shown in the Stormers point difference this year of 124 in 6 mayches played with him contributing scoring 62 fhe 124 point difffernce in 5 matches played, Neiver a real top class player - but Sacha taught him how to become one/.

Hold the phone...

We were told, by seemingly reliable sources, that there is hardly any space in the modern game.

That we shouldn't expect similar try scoring ratios from players today that we saw from those of yesteryear.

That for every 1m of space twenty years ago there is but 1cm of space in the hyper-defensive modern game.

We believe those sources because they "know their stuff". They eat, sleep and poop rugby all day, every day.

Thus, we are forced to conclude that what Sacha has done must be luck, divine intervention or the Adjustment Bureau pulling unseen strings behind the scenes.

There is but the smallest, almost insignificant chance, that those pundits actually have zero idea what they're talking about and that the ratios of Arendse and Sacha are black and white proof of that.

At the current rate, Sasha will easily beat Carter's trying scoring record of 29 tries - the highest by a test flyhalf.
