It's just possible the Saxons may be a tougher test than the decimated Irish. And it's also possible the Bok A team may resemble the Lions...with Marx,Redlinghuis, Whiteley, Kriel, Mostert, Mapoe, Mnisi and Skosan all possible starters for the A squad once the Bok squad is reduced to a match 23.
That may make for the more interesting contest.

Actually, you have a very good point.
Suddenly I'm looking forward to this contest.
Gooooo LIONSSS!!!!!!

There will only be 5 players released from the Springbok squad of 31 and I doubt very much if those will all be Lions players. More likely it will be other fringe players and not necessarily Lions players only. We will have to wait to see the teams to be announced next week before we can make any real evaluation of the situation.

I doubt Kriel will get a start with Flow back in the mix.
Same goes for Whiteley.
I'm sure Coetzee would prefer Malherbe to Redelinghuys.
So who's left ... maybe Faff and Combrink.
Most of our boys are white. He's looking more towards getting the colour mix right than actually playing winning test match rugby.
There's a very good chance we'll field a team dominated by Lions.

Flo should play at 7 at best - he does not have the pace to be a 6 in SH conditions. I think there will be a serious outcry if Kriel is not at least on the bench. Mostert will be on the bench and I do not think both Nyakane and Beast will be in the team o r on the bench, Not sure who Coetzee would pick - we will have to wait and see. There will be dodgy selections made - of that one can be sure - but that could have disastrous effects on the team performance and I think Coetzee would realize that and at least try to get a winning team together.

Vermeulen, Flouw, Kriel, Whiteley, Kolisi and Notshe....have to be reduced to 4 players. My guess is Vermeulen, Flouw and Kolisi will start....Kriel may get the bench, or perhaps Notshe depending on what deals have been cut.

So three slow loosies again and Louw is not a 6's backside - he is just about a slow 7 as a loosie. Stander will thrive against these three - he may be a stampkar - but the three Mozart mentioned are worse stampkars because they are slower than Stander in pace .

Mozart has always been confused about loosies - the more pace-deficient they are the better in his book. It is like all his takes - select Kruger and Matfield as locks and then select loosies to fill the void left by those two as real locks in the Tight 5. That left the whole scenario where you end up with one player short and ball protection and recovery is lost and low tackle counts are not serious and counts for nothing. Since the loosies turn up late than the props at breakdown points, while loosies he supports are inadequate defenders he totally discounts. He also sincerely believes that a loosie is really a must as first receiver of the ball from the scrummies. Woosh - for him the world is a confusing place.

I have to say Tokkie you are a very tedious man, I'm not going to bother to explain how you have totally missed the point....it's standard.

No Mike ... for crying out loud ... it's not what we'd like ... but rather an opinion of who we think Coetzee will select.
Duh-uh!!!
Try to keep up will ya?
Your'e so fixated with every post Mozart makes ... you've already decided he's got it wrong ... and that's before you've even read it properly.
Tedious indeed.

CC - my initial response was that we should wait for the team announcements before we go bananas about issues. Nobody really knows what Coetzee would do insofar as the loosies are concerned. Some positions are fairly clear - others are not. When are the teams to be announced?

No Mike ... that's not true ... you attacked the post because the poster was Mozart ... as you do with everyone of his posts.
Wh ere he goes, you follow ... forever finding fault ...
You should rather take note of the horsesh!t you've been peddling ...
Get a friggin life.

Mozart - there were only four players from the Springbok squad - none of them from the Lions. They were Garth April, Sikumbuso Notshe, Nic Groom and Scara Ntubeni, So your idea about the Lions players have been a misfit. However, that means "the never be in places where he should be" Paige will be the bench scrummie on Saturday. Do you remember how delighted you were when Meyer picked him for the Springbok WC squad last year?
