Hi Denny.

I tried to join the group but for some reason wasn't accepted.

I've played 8 matches so far and won them all. I have a 1476 ranking currently.

How does one register for a tournament? I've posted my question but no response so far.

Pity ... I wanted to compete in it. Maybe next time.

Are you registered as Atlas 1 again? Would like to follow your progress ... give you a little support.

Hard to believe the same sanctimonious little plonker who was almost in tears because I posted a football topic in the rugby section is putting his chess postings up here.

Using the cursor only when you in "Play" don't click on it
Scroll down to Tournaments and click on it..
Scroll down to upcoming Tournaments...
Click on the one(s) you want to play in. Starting dates and types of Tournaments are listed.
It will open showing an orange box that says "Join" Click "Join"
That's it.

I followed the prompts and "joined" just as you said ... but it kept on asking me to regsiter.

I went back in to see whats what but to no avail. My "joining" hadn't taken and I was still asked to register.

Is there perhaps a certain amount of games I need to play before I'm accepted?

Rather annoying I must say.

None the less ... I'll get this issue sorted.

Look forward to my first tournament.

Awesome site, Denny.

I find myself waking at odd hours through the night in anticipation of my next move.

Not sure what I've done differently but I've just been accepted into a tournament. 1400 - 1599 rating.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaa.

Finally.

Never done this before. I'm like a kid with a new toy.

Thanks Denny my man.

Wish me luck.

Gooooooooo CleanCut!!!!!!!

That's awfully strange, once you've clicked "Join" it's done and dusted, think it also has a message at the top to say you've Joined...not sure about that one though.
Only trouble with 3 day Tournaments is when you're playing someone who makes 1 move every 3 days.....it's within the rules but it holds up the tournament.
I guess it softens the wait when you're busy playing multiple tournaments like I am at the moment...2 going now with one 86% complete pending.

Multiple tournaments? There's an idea.

I clicked on the "join" button as I did before and this time it told me that I've been regsitered.

I dunno why I was rejected before. No matter ... it seems I'm in now.

What ranking are you currently? Let me know of any tournament you're "joining" and I'll see if I can do the same.

Question; how do they prevent people using software to play for them?
My Mac's  chess program is so bloody good that I can take back or redo as many moves as I like and it still wrecks me.
Learnt quite a lot by playing against the comp and then taking back moves by varying amounts. Interesting to see how far in advance it would calculate and then adjust as I went back and changed moves. Pretty quick way to get better actually.

 All good.
There's a total of 1419 players in this tournament divided into groups of 6 players and only one group of 5 players. Only 1 player in a group advances to the next round......buzzy stuff, mate.
Enjoy!
ps playing in what's called the 40th Chess Tournament, rego closed on the 02/09

I don't think you can, Plum.

There will always be cheats I'm afraid.

I'm glad to hear you've an interest in this brilliant game. Do you play online? Would love to have a match against you.

You can't stop cheats......if you go into the "Forums" they talk about it all the time. The thing that gets me is when you play in a tournament limited to 1401-1600 players, someone with a 1900 rating wins it....where did he come from Huh?

I'm no aficionado but I do know how to play.
Sure I'll join you guys.
Is there a time limit though? Between moves I mean?

 Plum
You can play one off games just like any of the other sites. In your "settings" you decide how many days break you want between moves. You can also play in tournaments but there your times per move is decided by the type of tournament you decide to play.
It will tell you upfront.
Note, if you forfeit games then you'll be suspended for a period of time. Also note some tournaments have no vacation periods.

I'd like to tell Plum where we're at but you seem to have an issue with Redneck finding out.

I don't ... but seeing as you invited me I'll leave it up to you on how to get Plum to this site.

That is if you don't mind, Denny ... ?

Ummm . . . Klown, no need for all this secrecy. I know which site you're talking about. It's okay, you can tell Plum all about Chess.com.

Really don't care what UrineRooi does, mate. Not even sure if Plum is that keen on playing. It's a free site but I won't divulge my new nick for obvious reasons. If you want to give Plum the heads up go right ahead. I've got more than enough players and features on that site to give a care about than you know who.

Plum ... feel free to join up. It's a great site.

Who gives a shit who you have issues with ... all the better to play against them ... right?

Besides ... Redneck is a great chess player ... love to take him on again.

Let me know Plum if you wanna test your skills against moi.

Be afraid ... be very AFRAIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!

 Lol
Possibly the geekiest conversation I've ever been involved in. Keep our chess site a secret. Fokkit Rooi, what did you do to these people.
Anyway, I'll have some time in a few weeks and will hit you guys up to remind me of the site...if I forget.
I'll play against you too Rooi :)
