Schreuder called up for Boks ahead of Kockott

Rory Kockott’s match winning Top 14 final performance has not been enough to warrant inclusion in the Bok squad. Instead Stormers Louis Schreuder is the latest No 9 to join the Boks.

Schreuder replaces injured Francois Hougaard, who has been ruled out of the current quadrangular series because of a knee injury.

Schreuder is the fourth scrumhalf to be selected for the Boks this month after starting scrumhalf Jano Vermaak got injured and was replaced by Cheetahs Piet van Zyl.

Ulster-based Ruan Pienaar will start against Scotland on Saturday.

Schreuder this season played as understudy to Nic Groom and Dewaldt Duvenhage at the Stormers but in the last month was the first choice Stormers halfback.

Kockott was sensational for Castres in the 19-14 Top 14 final win against Toulon in Paris and was the consistently good for the French club

Well any views by those who saw Kockott play this year?

What were the other possibilities. Groom is I think injured. Reinach  is out.  Is Schreuder better than the Kings Shaun Venter. Bit suprised Schreuder is so highly rated. Sarel obviously is right out of the reckoning.

A surprise selection if ever their was one. Not warranted if you ask me.

I would have thought that the international experience Kockett picked up would have stood him in good stead.

I know a few folks don't like picking overseas players for the Bokke and can understand why, however Kockett's had an awesome season and should have been enticed back to our shores late last year. 

Definitely my first choice scrummie.

I guess, if he does get picked, old Mozart and Mike will be squabbling over who mentioned him for Bok selection first.

CC Kockott may be idea for a WC spot given its being held in NH conditions. He is 27 so he could make it.

Always thought he was a great package - fine goal kicker and fiesty scrummie with strong break. However he seems to speak his mind a bit which has counted against him.

He had a little trouble with his self discipline. Anger issues ... short temper ... but has been working on it. The results are clearly visible. 

He's a talent, of that there's no doubt. Needs strong leadership and a good coach to bring his full potential out. .

He has it all. A strong pass, good tactical kicker, accurate at the posts, awesome work rate, strong defender, reads the game well, aggressive attacker .... my kinda guy.

Hope he gets a shot sometime.

There is'nt much I can add to the comments of Beeno and Clean Cut other than to say that Rory and Van Zyl should have been part of the original squad, instead Meyer once again chooses mediocrity.......what's new?
