I missed this match yesterday...so here is a a simple 'assessment' of the scoring.
First penalty to South Africa courtesy of a big hit by Jenkins and panic sealing by Wales.
The first Welsh try.....a laughable mistake by Kriel at the ruck....knocking the ball on and then treating it as still in the ruck, allows the Welsh to pick up the ball from his feet.....and then Stephanie is dummied again. How many more times is he going to bite?
The second Welsh try Williams goes through Jenkins, van Zyl and Du Preez from a standing start.....very poor tackling by all of them.
Ishmael's try was setup by a big physical tackle by Esterhuizen and after that it was plain sailing....he anticipated the pass well.
The Welsh yellow card came after a very average chip into the in goal area by Jantjies, now a standard penalty tactic that some scoffed at when it was mooted a few years back. The Welsh botched it and were down to 14 men.
At the following scrum Kitshoff gained the edge and Esterhuizen made the initial penetration. Kriel made a good pass in the tackle which needed to be higher to impede the pass.....to the open Mapimpi.
Finally Du Preez got charged...for the Welsh try.....the ball came too quickly to Ishmael for him to react. A bad mistake by Du Preez but probably caused by the very short in goal area.
The Welsh looked feeble.........not good.
