Scotland - Springbok Test

That intercept try of Strauss was a godsend - if it was not for that try - the Scots would have won this game.  Just think of the number of penalties they could have converted if the score was in fact 14 -10.   The second half was disgraceful.

Meyer's discoveries did not show anything positive as is evident by the following:-

*    De Jongh made two tackles and missed one.   First ball that came his way - he knocked on.   Was involved in one forward movement - beating two forwards and then got tackled.   Did not look at possible passing of the ball - but SA fortunately retained possession. Did not show anything really positive and can at best be rated as a 4 out of 10 for real achievment.   

*  . teenkamp was good for three scrums and then disintegrated afterwards  and scrums became a mess. Even in the scrums he was good at - he was scrumming upwards and inwards. Lucky not to get penalized for that.   Oviously he could not scrum otherwise - since his gut is in the way.  Not fit at all

*   Van der Linde was disgustingly poor and should never have been in the squad.   What a useless player.

Now let me give a realistic assessment of the various players:-

*   Kirshner         6

*   Hougaard       4

*   De Jongh       4

*   De Villiers       7 

*   Pietersen        6

*   Lambie           6

*   Pienaar          6

*   Vermeulen     7

*   Alberts           6

*   Louw              8

*   Etzebeth        8

Van der Linde - I gave him 3 out of 10 last week.   This week he definitely is no better than 0 out of 10

Pietersen needs a creative player to help him to perform at his best.   There was nothing in sight of that and his star performances in previous tests was not in evidence.   I would say that the bad eggs are those players with a point allocation of 5 and below.

 Agree...... CJ should get -3 out of 10. Don't know how Heyneke has not realised that he is pathetic in the scrums.

 As for Dejong......look our gameplan doesn't allow 13's to do much with ball in hand. That said,Dejong had a opportunity to free devilliers next to the touchline and instead of drawing the player and putting devilliers into space he did his predictable inside step and the ball died. I will go back to say that I don't blame  him, but rather the ineffective gameplan we have. Bar Dejong not passing that one time, he did as much as he could with the ball he got.The same bad ball went to Taute in previous games( what can they do?)

Mike check your woefully incorrect stats against the official ones I posted for the backs. Those cataracts are playing up again.

Majestic break by De Jongh - he progressed five meters - and what about his knock-on when the ref was playing advantage,   He made two tackles - but missed one.   I am perfectly happy with my stats,   By THE WAY YOUR HEROES  STEENKAMP AND VAN DER LINDE MUST HAVE BEEN HIGH ALLOCATIONS IN YOUR STATS.

I summed up exactly what happened on the field of play - nothing more - nothing less.   And for your information comparative to the Irish test Taute did three times better than De Jongh did in the Scottish test- so put that in yuour pipe and smoke it.
