Seems Marx has been deep sixed

Springboks Malcolm Marx, Lwazi Mvovo, Rudy Paige, Trevor Nyakane and Bongi Mbonambi have been made available for Currie Cup duty this weekend.

All five players were part of the Springbok squad that returned to South Africa on Sunday after away Tests against New Zealand and Australia.

SA Rugby said in a statement on Monday that the released players would benefit from additional game or training time.

Furthermore, SA Rugby has requested that the following players are not to be considered for Currie Cup duty this week: Faf de Klerk, Juan de Jongh, Oupa Mohoje and Vincent Koch.

 It's hard to argue with sending Bongi, Move-ou, Paige and Nyakane back to their provinces. They are surplus to requirements and won't be missed. It's also striking that all of these players came in under the quota consideration. Does this mean that the losses and the outcry have caused a brief reprieve in this unfair practice? If so this announcement is helpful.

But dumping Marx is puzzling. Certainly he botched several lineout throws, and as a Super Rugby finalist it's disappointing. But the Boks continued to call some complex lineout plays which didn't help Marx find his jumpers. He also had one spectacular bust and looked the part in general play.

One wonders if he got some of the blame for the two botched scrums where Koch got penalized.....but the Lions' scrum looks more than solid with him in the middle.

Unlike Mostert and Kriel he wasn't anonymous and is far better suited physically than those two lightweights.  It all seems a bit premature.

I don't think he's been dumped ....... never played in Aus & half a game in NZ . Sadly though  he seems afflicted with the Bismarck syndrome . Dammit .

I don't think there's any danger of Malcolm Marx being dropped from the Bok squad. He's just being given some game time while the Boks have a week's break. The Boks have three hookers in the squad and two have been given time off . . . so does Moffie seriously think we're not going to have a backup for Strauss? Wehe . . . what a rugby noob this clown is!

these players are sent to their provincial teams to have gametime,....... no one has been dropped,....... is something every national team does,........ when a player doesn't play release him to the provincial team the week there's a bye to have gametime and keep the form


E.g. Crotty was injured for the second Rugby Championship game and couldn't play,...... the following weekend  he was released to Canterbury to play the NPC while there was a bye in the RC,...... and the next RC game (3rd round) he was starting for the AB

A week later, it turns out our coach is in fact dumb enough (or under enough political pressure) to retain the average Mbonambi for the promising Marx and here's this same drooling half-wit plucking at his tiny shrivelled little gherkin trying to pretend he's some kind of visionary!

The fact that Marx were released this week (which in this case means that he's been dumped alongside de Allende and Mvovo)) doesn't change anything and the prove is that the rest of the players released last week (and according to you also "dumped") are still in the team

Right in my first post which starts this string. Now why would Coetzee ask for those players not to be included in the CC if they were going to play in a test last week. It's obvious just from the article there was no test last week....even if I didn't know that, which I did as you well know.
