Senior post for rassie and Meyer about to blunder?

Rassie Erasmus is set to be named as Saru’s High Performance manager in the near future.

Die Burger reports that the former Stormers director of coaching could be appointed as early as Friday, as Saru’s executive council gathered in Cape Town on Thursday.

If not confirmed over the next several hours, it is still strongly believed that Erasmus will be given a senior post at Saru. His role is likely to overlook South African rugby, in terms of coaching and style of play, like he did at Western Province.

Other names rumoured to join head coach Heyneke Meyer’s management are Ricardo Loubscher (backline coach), John McFarland (defence), Louis Koen (kicking) and Basil Carzis (fitness and conditioning

I still believe Meyer needs Rassie's brain power badly. As for Loubscher - well this has to be another huge gamble - but why it is necessary to gamble. Suddenly Loubscher has to match wits with the worlds best backline coaches! Is he another Alistair Coetzee? It is vital we get the best backline coach we can be he local or foreigner.

It has been proven time and time again the Keo's so-called "resputable inside sources", about Meyer's coaching squad, are the bigest load of crap around.

Who has Keo been suggesting Meyer's coaching staff may be besides these guys?

I note Superpsort also mentions Loubscher as Meyers possible backline coach.

Hi there Chippo. I seem to recall some mention of Ricardo doing good work with the bulle juniours and Vodacom side. Hardly the credentials one should be looking for as a coach of the worlds premier side.

We really should scour the globe for the best we can get. Our backs do not perfrom to their potential most of the time.

Hi Guys Sorry for announcing myself in sucha way or should i Rather reannounce myself rather .... Anycase Regarding Louscher and the complaints about him not bieng good enough. Just as some food for thought. People in Management positions sometimes Favour the people that they have worked with in the past, therefore we need to expect Heynecke to go for alot of guys that he knows and trusts to work with them. Ricardo has worked with Meyer at the bulls, They both had huge input in the Junior squads and development of the players. Obviuosly if he trusts him they will have a good working relationship and as a trustee of Heynecke's he is bound to understand the plans heynecke has and implement them. That is heyneckes prrogitive on who he want's there and a guy that he trusts will be a much better solution that say what Snor had in someone from the ouside that he now needs to learn how to work with. So i won't complain too much about it. As I understand the need for trust.

Yes trust is a vital but also the experience and skills set. Are you suggesting that Loubscher is one of the top backline coaches in the world? To be number one we must have the best available.

To hang with picking bulle folk just because you know them! That is NOT good enough in my book.

Meyer should choose the best. hell why not carlos spencer? or ed jones (ok he is t te bumbles now)...

Clearly we see it differently, there is a big difference to picking someone that you have a good working relationship with and that you trust can do the job than picking your drinking buddy. But you are free to have your oppinion, I just believe that you pick a team tharefore people with the strangths that you whish to work with not necceserely the best guy in the position. According to that arcument he should pick Nick Mallet as forwards coach. I don't see Mallet willing to take order from Meyer, Or Rassie for that matter, they are the best available, however not neceserily the best to fill a position in a team. As I said too many cooks spoil the broth. £ headcoaches don't work. Someone has to be in charge. Heynecke will pick someone that he knows he can work with and that has the nececery skills to perform in a position. Same as picking a team. You pick people whose skills and personalities combine to make a team. Tis is a team after all. But you are free to have your oppinion. Honestly I won't appoint someone at work that i believe will undermine the authority or not be able to work with the unit.
