Shaks team against Racing Metro in Hong Kong

"Sharks coach Robert du Preez has named his team to take on French club Racing 92 in a friendly match in Hong Kong on Saturday.

The coach’s son, Robert jnr, will start at flyhalf, with Springbok Curwin Bosch named on the bench.

Cameron Wright will partner Du Preez at scrumhalf, coming in for the injured Louis Schreuder, who suffered a hamstring injury in last week’s win over the Bulls in Polokwane.

Another Springbok, Lwazi Mvovo, starts at fullback

Up front, Thomas du Toit will start in the No 3 jersey as he begins his transition from loosehead to tighthead, while lock Ruan Ruan Botha will lead the Sharks.

The Sharks also confirmed that the match at the Aberdeen Sports Ground will be streamed live on their official Facebook page from 10:00 (SA time) on Saturday.

I believe PL will be playing against his old side...this match could be very interesting from quite a few angles.

Still cannot find Racings selection for tomorrow but I'm surprised that DC is expected to be in the squad...he must have recovered from his knee injury.

Sadly this game won't be televised in SA but you can stream it on Sharks facebook link at 10 am SA time.

That is an exhibition game to promote rugby in other countries and warm up people to the incoming WC in Japan.

Not that it does not matter for SA: the more rugby markets, the more opportunities to peddle the trade.

Quite important when you train guns for hire.

You must be careful here,   According to Ceradunce and Mozart there is no rugby talent in SA and this win by the Sharks will not be looked upon kindly by them.   All kinds of excuse will be raised.

According to them Super Rugby is a step down compared to the European Champions Cup and even the European Challenge Cup and performers on Super Rugby level should not be selected for the Springboks.   According to them non-performers will on Springbok level suddenly develop wings and be top performers.

Their nonsense make for entertaining reading though.    

Robert Du Preez is training his players to play the game that makes sense...players are running through gaps and not the mindless crash-balling of the past...ie Frans Steyn type of tactics.

I expect that he will be instrumental in bringing this back into our mindsets...the way he is coaching the Sharks could set the future and the way back to correct playing rugby style.

Crash-balling is most senseless activity and rugby like this is unproductive, causes unnecessary injuries and is just as ugly and appealing as American grid-iron.

It's an example of one step forward 2 steps back...if you get my drift.

There ofcourse much more to add...but this is the first simple point that makes so much sense.

I can now expect the squealing crash ball fans ranting and foaming at the mouth but let the Sharks under RDP show the way and set the example

Having said this...one swallow does not mean summer has arrived but I have a feeling and intuition that our long awaited  Shark dominance is about to give birth and what we have now is just the birth pangs/ pains....

BS in buckets again - the Cheetahs is NOT in Super Rugby yet they have beaten some of the Clubs taking part in the  Champions Cup,    Nobody ever think of the Kings of being the source of top talent and you referring to them is the level of simplicity expected from you.

That is always the low level only you can descend to and that is always a joke to laugh at and wonder why you are not in an asylum for the rugby illiterate,   Just as an aside - the NH clubs have to travel and  then play in unfamiliar conditions.   Does that not apply to the Cheetahs as well?

But also - this thread had nothing to do with the Pro14 - it is about the Super Rugby warm ups and as I pointed out the Cheetahs and Kings are NOT playing Super Rugby anymore.   Most of their best players have relocated to Super rugby franchises,
