The sharkies hav esuffered some key injuries:

Ex Supersport:

The Sharks’ chances of winning their crunch Super Rugby derby against the Bulls have suffered a mortal blow with the confirmation that star backline player Patrick Lambie is unlikely to line up for the match.

Lambie sprained an ankle in the second test between the Springboks and England a few weeks ago. It was initially thought that he would be the one player among a clutch of injured Sharks who would be fit to play the Bulls, but the news from the Sharks camp as Friday night’s game nears is not good.

“Pat is struggling. He is running straight with no pain but he is battling to move laterally,” said coach John Plumtree.

The Sharks have given Lambie until Wednesday to prove his fitness but the word from the camp is that he almost certainly won’t be wearing the No 15 at Mr Price Kings Park. And neither will lock Steven Sykes or flank Willem Alberts. (Massive blow to sharks

Sykes underwent a scope on his knee after the Lions game four weeks ago and is expected to be out for a while. Alberts sprained his knee scoring the first try in the Springbok win over England at Coca-Cola Park.

“They are all struggling and extremely doubtful,” said Plumtree.

Louis Ludik will line up at fullback if Lambie is not available, with Tim Whitehead shifting to outside centre to accommodate Frans Steyn in the No 12 jersey. Jean Deysel is the logical replacement for Alberts at No 7, while the Sharks have three locks to choose from -- Anton Bresler, Juandre Marais and Pieter-Steph du Toit.   (Wise up please - play Du Toit at 7 as Deysel is a carthorse!!!!!)

It’s not an ideal situation for them to be in though as they go into a game they have to win if they are to stand any chance of qualifying for a place in the top six, which would enable them to participate in the extended playoff rounds.

Well at least Frans is on the park and if they play Du Toit at 7 the pack will still be sound.

I see Lambie is defintely out.

Snapster I see Du Toit is shown as being 114 kg. Did you say 117 kg?

Even if 114 kg the lad will end up close to 120 kg. Good thing about Steph is that he is nice and mobile. I though he looked very good at 7 which at this stage of his career should be where he plays.

So Jordaan is also not available.

Tough on the sharks to not have these three in the team. Also they had a bye before the test series and  that means most of their players have not played for 4 weeks?

Sharks have to win this one or its tickets. How they must regret that loss to the Lions.

It appears that the bulle are the favourites to win the clash.

Some predictions please.

Mine sharkies by 12 simply because thye must win and are at home. Interesting battle in the fron row. Will Du Toit show the bulle locks up? Frans to have big impact. Poor Wynand another man mountain to contain.

To me the sharkies need to run the ball a bit - their loosies and general mobility of their pack dictates that.

Beans, are you having a lekker chat with yourself here? LOL! Before the Crusties beat the Chiefs today, I would have said the sharks need to win this one, because that would potentially put 3 SA teams in the top six, but now the Bulls need to win to keep their very slim chances of a home semi alive. Sorry Sharkies, but you left it too long to get your act together this year. Bulls to suprise the Sharks with a 3 point win.

I keep telling you Sap, these weights can be manipulated. Probably more realistically 110kgs.

Bluebok it is a pity two sa sides might damage eachothers chances.

Couple of pointers in the first half. Bissie the best hooker in world. He is immense. Juandre is not physical enough for an international lock,  He should have been able to stop that bissie try.

Du Toit NOT ready for super 15 as a tight forwdard. Next year play him at 7 perhaps.

JP is playing fantastic rugby. His work rate is very good and he is playing smart. Beast cant drive the ball up a meter once more. Coenie has to take over .

Kan kan is playing a lot more physically and with some effect. Frans is loafing away but what a treat to see those long distance goals.

Great half sharkies. 40 minutes to go. Remember to let the bulle have a bonus point if you can arrange matters nz style. Hahhahahahaha wonder how ou sitting bools is!!!

Sharks scrum has got an edge but nothing decisive. aque potgieter is not the player he was before injury.

spies is loafing away.

But everything could look different in the second half so so much to play for or both sides
