Sharks name Swiel at 10 against Saracens Former WP flyhalf Tim Swiel has been named at 10 for the Sharks

The Sharks have named their team to play Saracens in a Super Rugby warm up match at Allianz Park in London on Saturday.

The Sharks have named English born former Western Province flyhalf Tim Swiel at number 10.

Marcell Coetzee, Keegan Daniel and Frans Steyn did not tour after picking up injuries in training and a few players have picked up stomach bugs and are unwell.

Director of Rugby, Jake White has selected a team with a Springbok front row, a youthful lock pairing, a powerful yet mobile loose-forward trio, another young half-back pairing, young centres, established wings and is testing Tyler Fisher at fullback.

Sharks Captain, Bismarck du Plessis said, "Saracens have been the form side in the English Premiership for the last few years. "

"They are midway through their season so it's going to be tough for us, but we are looking forward to it. We want to test some new combinations and tick a few boxes."

White said that Saracens play a similar game to the Bulls which will help with their preparation and testing certain combinations and possibly certain players in different positions.

"What I enjoy about this game is that it mimics a little bit of what we can expect from the Bulls," said Director of Rugby Jake White on the Sharks site.

"Saracens play a little bit like the Bulls, they have a big pack of forwards, their set-piece is strong and they kick a lot. It gives me and the coaching staff an opportunity to see the things we want to do against the Bulls, to have an idea of whether or not we can play against the Bulls in a certain way.

"Obviously we can't give too much away as it's televised and there will be a lot of analysis of the game. I think it gives us an opportunity from a playing style point of view what we're up against when we play the Bulls in February."

Aside from the playing and White explains that it is vital that they return home with a full, fit squad.

"The most important thing about this game is that we get through it injury-free. Obviously people would appreciate that they are in the middle of their season, while this is the first hit-out for us, we haven't had any contact situations of a fully-fledged fixture."

will daracens even play their best players???

it kind of makes sense to me that a nothing match like this is not a place where saracen would want to risk their best players considering they are in the middle of a season.

timo sweil, great potential this dude, prob the best of all the upcoming players ive seen from SA for the last 3 years.
hes also a bargin at testrugby, where im hoping he gets picked in game one cos he would go straight into my team.

 Sasue

The English test players from Saracens will not be available for the match and they will probably play the rest of their squad.   There are so many SA players in their squad - it will be just about two SA teams playing each other.

I will also add Swiel to my selections when he plays - pricewise he would be a top selection.   I did not notice his name in the Foxsport list of players - suppose they will still add him in any event.
