I can't find any formal ratings and after viewing the match again I'm comfortable taking a stab.
SP Marais 5 ....he tried, inaccurately at times with careless offloads, but he was one of the players who gave it a go. And he beat a few tackles
JP Pietersen 4....our big guy seemed determined not to tackle their big guy, as Nadolo left JP for dead twice. He did put in a massive hit on Crotty, but was largely awol.
Jordaan 3....missed Read right at the start, saved by Kankowski, then missed him disastrously to effectively end the game. He struggled in a bunch of other tackles.
Frans 6...a poor touch miss and a direct kick out marred his game. But he put in a huge hit on Ellis, twice took Nadolo down in full flight, once after Lambie missed. He was the only tackler back to try and stem the tide on the Nadolo try. He got little ball but offloaded well once.
Mvovo 4....another callow display. He slowed to pass to a lock when put away, instead of challenging his man. Botched two kicks when moved to fullback. Was he even trying.
Lambie 3....botched penalties, botched goal kicks botched line kicks, botched tactical kicks. Weak tackles on Nadolo and on Heinz when he scored. Put into a barndoor gap, he did manage to hold Crotty, but passed too early.
Reinach 5....two nice runs, but caught by Whitelock along the touchline after he looked to be free. He was missing at the base of the first three rucks.....standing at centre when Ellis conjoured up the Nadolo try. Not one of his kicks put any pressure on the Saders and he kicked straight out once and he conceded a dumb penalty for points.
Jannie 6....was bested by Crocket in the minute 42 scrum, but was dominant in the minute 9.00 scrum. The Sharks were solid on all their other scrums and dominant in some. The only other poor scrum was at minute 47 when du Toit was bested by Franks. Jannie did his job.
Bismarck 5....a good turnover and he tried hard, but he was never allowed to physically dominate. One or two poor lineout throws.
Du Toit 6....not the dominant performance of the Landers match, but he was up agianst the best tighthead in the world at 19 years old....and he generally edged the battle. He was lively in the loose as well, but botched one kickoff with his jumper. All in all this kid continues to amaze. Cleared the ruck for the awol Reinach at minute 39.00 and didnt hesitate to do so...remarkably steady between the ears.
Alberts 5....he is not a lock though he took some lineout ball. Made some big tackles as noted by the commentators, but largely quiet.
Lewies 3....was robbed on several occasions by Whitelock....anonymous in the tight loose.....not a physical presence at all. And the ball was ripped out of his hands at minute 43.
Marcell Coetzee 6 .....based largely on his first 15 minutes. After that he gradually disappeared. One nice penalty by ripping at the ball....but no clean turnovers. He wasnt really a factor on the deck apart from the penalty.
Deysel 4....the kind of disappointing game he plays so often when he cant dominate physically. Lost the ball twice
Kankowski.....6 stopped Read after Jordaan missed him in the 22. took 4 lineouts and threw a stellar pass to spring the Sharks. His handling was superb. And by the slightest margin I would give him the award as the best Shark.
None of the subs were great, but McLeod added some crispness.
