I would love to see Mallett or Mitchell coach the SHarks, under Plumtree the SHarks managed to combine their forward play and backplay seamlessly, one of these two will bring that back.

Both are good coaches. Both would whip the guppies into shape again. However don't underestimate Dr Brendon Venter who along with Rassie is one our most astute rugby brains. One has to lament that currently none of these four men are coaching a Super Rugby side. The mind boggles.

Unfortunately, it will most likely be Gary Gold.
It looks like its a 'series of unfortunate events' for the Sharks.
My first choice would be Brendan Venter. After that Nick Mallet.

Guys here is a shocker for you all.
Carlos Spencer, Brendan Venter would be my top two picks.
Gold is useless. He was fired as a coach in England.Mallet has an inflated ego. Big head an a one man show.Mitchell ran the Lions into the dirt. Poor selection and and not a team player.
Currently I think Ackerman is the top coach seeing what he has got out of his players and also done for the Lions attacking style of play.
MacLeod-Henderson has done absolutely nothing with the talent at his disposal and should not even be considered for an assistant coach position.
Send him to the Queens and get the guy who can get the Sharks back on top with his style of rugby.
Yes....Carlos Spencer.Do any of you guys recall his playing style at #10........incredible to put it simply.

I like Carlos, not convinced that he is experienced enough yet, and John Smit and Co will certainly not risk him?

I would say Venter - Mallett is low on my list of candidates - foll owed by Michell and Spencer - with Gold and Mallett sharing the bottom spot - Plumtree ahead of them in any event.

For me the only real candidate is Mitchell. He has coached the All Blacks, he has coached x2 Super XV teams, he has won the Curry Cup. He lives in Durban and understands South African rugby.
As a former backline player, he would probably be able to make a good backline with the resources he has at the Sharks. I would prefer a backline player as a head coach with a specialist forward coach.
I doubt Mallett is interested in the job, not sure Brendan Venter could take the job on with his other commitments.
The other candidates are total crap. Gary Gold is a kick and chase specialist rugby coach.
I remember during 2010 when the public was questioning the Pdivvy game plan of constant kick and chase. Gary Gold said that all up and under are 50/50 balls. This is only true if the kick and chaser are accurate. Even if half of the kicks made are accurate, this makes it a 25%/75% of giving away possession in favour of the opposition.
Didnt Gary Gold only recently take a job coaching some very average club side in England, that probably showed limited results.

Well to be quite frank John Smit and company have yet to prove themselves in my eyes.
The only positive action that I can recall them making is to get rid of Plumtree.
Anyone else wish to add to that list.
Being an excellent captain does not automatically make you a great CEO or coach.
Just look at what Matfield accomplished as a coach with the Blue Bulls.

I get your point clearly. I actually favour Mitchell fr the job - since Venter has a medical practice in the Strand and is unlikely to want to go back to rugby. An occasional advisory job per haps for him - but not a full time coaching position.
Mallett is a big talker nd great theorist - good for talk shows on Supersport. When he became Springbok coach he started off with the team inherited from his predecessor. But then a fter 18 months players started to retire and he had to replace them. He buggered up the captaincy issue with Teichmann - he never spoke to Teichmann for six months - not even on the phone. He then in replacements was clueless and the team went backwards at lightning speed.
Gold was tripe for the Springboks and worse for every other team. That is the worst the Sharks can do - he would not last longer than a season before there will be another fall out.
