Sharks team improvement required.

There are two players that the Sharks should get rid of as a matter of extreme urgency.  Those are -

*  Willem Sloth Alberts - his performance was in par with the one last week.  Still a 2/10 case.

As per normal he has done as little work as possible. He was credited with a try - but did squad to produce it.   Was not in the driving maul - loafing around behind the maul.  He loves helping the opposition to get points and he was very successful today in doing just that - 2 penalties contributed 9 points to the tally of the Hurricanes.

*    Francois Steyn - the ball hogger - who refuses to pass the ball to anybody.

This can at best be described as utter bullshit,  This player was bad last year - he is rapidly approaching the same this year - totally disrupting any potential backline play and losing ball possession enough times in the process.

It certainly did not show what you said in his stats.  He carried the ball   3 times gaining all of 5 meters and his defence was the lowest one can expect from a lock - not from a loosie.

I tell you what happened to the 4 try possibility.   Steyn pissed it away and the rest suffered from White line fever.   They all wanted to score tries and everyone lost possession of the ball as if their lives depended on it.

I do not think stupidity pays off in rugby and with dunces like STEYN AND ALBERTS in the team - what can one expect.

You cannot protect balls at rucks with a loosie like Edwards in the team.  He never does ball protection at all - he does not know what that implies.   Ball protection at rucks are basically the responsibility of the loosies - the Sharks have two and they have an unproductive lock masquerading as a loosie.

 This is why I admire Labuschagne so much.  If anybody is tackled he is there to protect the ball and stop potential turnovers.   That remains the function of the l oosies - but they have to get to the tackled player in time and that is where the situation becomes unstuck.

It happened time and time again.  Coetzee carries the ball - he gets tackled and there is no other loosies or other players to protect the ball.   The same applies to Steyn.   He runs straight at the opposing defender - gets tackled and there is nobody protecting the ball.  That is why so many balls were lost by him.  

Steyn today was pathetic.  There should be variation of play - so that the opposition have to be unsure  as to what is coming or going to happen.   With Steyn you can be sure what will happen - he runs straight at the first defender, so the Hurricanes loosies run straight towards him and that is the end of the move and the potential loss of possession.

Steyn today NEVER ONCE passed the ball to the outside center or a player wider out.   If that is center play it blows my mind.   Predictability is the worst thing anybody can do and he was 100% predictable.   This was exactly what he tried last year and the Sharks backline was ruled out off existence.   Last year he had a reasonable first game in Super 15 - from there he went backwards like it was unbelievable.  He is on the same way this year it seems to me.
