Shell-shocked Jake vows introspection, says Bulls will return stronger

The Bulls created at least two solid breakout opportunities in the first half that they squandered with hasty, inaccurate offloading or passing. They should have been home and gone after the first 40.
They refused numerous kickable penalties - in a final - for lineout mauls which Glasgow were perfectly happy to counter. This includes one with a fair bit of time remaining in the second half that could have put them within two points, drop goal territory. Stupid decisions, poor execution, leaky defense (at one point 37 missed tackles late in the second) that put them on the backfoot and scrambling that entire half.
The Bulls allowing Glasgow to score at the end of the first half after they completely dominated to that point swung the game. Wrong time to take your foot off the pedal. It was all Glasgow from then on.
Also agree with those having a go at the DJ at Loftus, its a rugby stadium not a night club . Stop playing music every time there is stoppage, takes the home crowd out of the game.
Klop ................ its a sad feature in NZ as well.
Look at the Euros soccer .............. who needs Neil Diamond or Tom Jones ?

That's the Loftus way, Stav, and to a large extent the South African way. South Africans will travel all the way into the middle of the bush surrounded by nature and then blast music all night long. Can't see it changing anytime soon.
Jake needs to pack it in, he has a huge budget, least transformed team (not that it matters) and yet can't put a decent team out. With no Moody. Willie or Arendse (wasn't 100%) seem to run out of ideas.
Not sure how Carr is still able to make any professional team.
Very poor execution by the team. Just when I think Jake is about to do some special he goes and messes it up. That trophy was the bulls any day.
But then the stormers did the same, but at least we can see now which players can handle the pressure in finals and who can't
I believe boks should be selected from these scenarios and we should just ignore their stats rest of the season
Well here's the simplest final trick: take the points when on offer. If you're 5 off, take the 3 and suddenly you don't need to desperately graft for a try to win, you can kick yourself over the finish line.
Another one: if it ain't working (mauls, sending isolated runners at a defensive wall), try something else.
No introspection necesssary - just stop playing Jake Ball and the team will improve. For that purpose try and have a game plan in advance as to how to score tries - which John Smit said was totally absent from the 2007 WC final match - the same thing happened in the Bulls match on Saturday.
In any even there were no coherent play in the match and then they would not have to consider as to why they lost the game would not have a revoew f why they lost.
Dave is right it was a shit performance .
Congrats to the Bulls for earning a home final. Shows they did a lot right in the campaign.
Am I right in saying the Bulls were without Nyankane, Pollard, Moodie and Willie yet only lost by 5 points. Does anybody doubt the presence of these 4 was not worth at least 6 points.
Yes errors were made and chances were not taken but that happens and happend to the Glasgow Warriors as well.
However the Jake bashers should pipe down, stop over emoting and also acknowledge what was achieved, something the other SA franchises couldn't achieve.
Please oaks man up and take the loss on the chin. Also be brave enough to admit the ref was not up to scratch which is never helpful. Love to see a Rassie analysis of the errors.
A point of concern was how the Bulls didn't deal with the rolling maul. Personally I though the Glasgow Warriors pack was pretty good and very fit. so give them credit.
I didn't think Wilco and the front row were that good. Wilco is a lump of lard. Rassie like strong props with endurance and fight. Does Wilco fit the bill? Probably not.
Anyhow Jake has something to build on.

Somewhere in the game they quoted the number of maul tries Glasgow has scored but I can't remember the exact numbers. Something to the effect of they've scored 20-something maul tries in the tournament while the next closest side was at 7. Maybe someone can get the right numbers from somewhere.
Rubbish the ref was fine, as he was in last years final. Glasgow just the better team on the day.
I notice the South African media has largely ignored Jakes ref comments. Think the realise its a bad look.
I’m a Jake supporter, the guy is totally about rugby….but his comment on the ref was ill advised. South Africans are whining too much.
I agree with Pakie…we should have kicked the penalty that would have reduced the deficit to 2. That would have put the pressure on Glasgow.
Still the Bools had several chances from 5metres out to score. They just kept trying the maul which never worked all game. But it’s not like they weren’t competitive. They lost composure more than anything else. Too much doom and gloom and FFS every SA team should have a backline play as a maul alternative….or at least consider a tap and go vs a well defended maul.
The Luke Watson syndrome never goes away.
I agree with you, Stav. All these blasts of music during matches really gets my goat
What’s is your goat’s name Becs ? : )
Dave.
It’s called Percy, Mpower
Nice of you to name him after a Bok fullback, Becs.
I thought all goats were called Billy after Vunipola.
I name all my random animals after the great Percy Montgomery, Pakie.
I’ve had a cat, a fish, a weasel……now a goat
Cool
My favourite pet, a Bengal miniature Leopard, was called Cabous
I also had a Koi called Joost.
What do you call Dave?
Ooh that would be telling, Mozart
Oh yes, Mpower. He had issues over control. He would attack and acted like he was my partner rather than him being a pet.
With regards attacking other cats, no. He was not a big fighter, certainly nothing like my Siamese.
He was a bit scary. I do have the scars to remember him by !
He was the most beautiful and intelligent cat though. I still miss him

LOL I spoke to soon.
It was pretty low key.
