Jeff Wilson, Kronfeldt and Jones discussed the test of last week and started off sh owing what the All Balcks did well, Theheaped praise on McCaw - even though Kronveldt said he lost some pace.
When they discussed the Springbok performance they said that the past way of play was gone. During the hole game they said the Springboks kicked the ball only 17 times - a complete change of the way they played in the past.
They said it was very brave of Meyer to select Pollard as a 20 year old and they said that he was basically responsible for the new passing game that was in evidence. High praise for Pollard and they said it shows - he was the ebst player in the Under 20 WC. They showed all three the tries scored by the springboks and Pollard's role in it.
The spoke extremely highly of Vermeulen and said that he shows the same signs as McCaw did in ball carries - but that he is very strong and difficult to defend against.
On the AB side Wilson said that he eblieves Slade should be the flyhalf - and dealt with Barrett. They were very complimentary about him - and since there is no sign of a return by Carter they think Barrett deserves to start at 10. They mentioned that Cruden his lost a bit since his major injury and is not back to his best.
As to Fekitoa they pointed out that there is not a proper understanding in defense between Conrad Smith and Fekitoa yet - but surprisingly was not very complmentary about the performance of the latter.
The change in game plan of the Springboks is apparently linked to the selection of Pollard and Lambie to fill the flyhalf position. Morne made life easy for the AB's - he never attacked through the channell and their defenders could ignore him and drift out to cover other ball carriers - and then the kicking game was centered around him and it did not work out. Theu sure are missing Morne!!!!!!!!!!!
