Siya Kolisi shouldn't be starting for the Stormers....
The Stormers has to real loosies Van Dyk and Wiese - but they rarely use them together. The other loosies are all crap and Kolisi is no better than Carr and Notshe.
That is one of the main reasons for their poor showing in Super Rugby.
So I agree with you about that one. . .
The whole situation is totally frot. Rassie has probably done himself no favours. Should he succeed even moderately it would prove he is a rugby genius of unmatched talent such are the odds against hi m!
It's friggin hilarious that our government failed so poorly at simply introducing rugby at school level that they have to enforce quotas.
Like there is some white conspiracy to keep players of color out of teams. Like a black kid turns up at Rover Rugby club in Welkom and no matter h ow hard he works the coach just won't him.
Seriously, give me tiny budget and one assistant and I'll introduce every school in Gauteng to rugby in a month.
Use rugby playing high school final year students as coaches and have some deal with universities that the coaches get a small discount on university fees.
Maybe it might also help kids at underprivileged schools see that the average 18 year old white kid is not the apartheid nazi that Malema and BLF would like them to believe he is.
The funniest of all is that most white kids in matric will happily do the coaching for free.
When school kids are more willing to build a better nation than our politicians are then we know we're in troubs.
Mozart
I took a look at the info on Kolisi. He is 1,88 meter tall and weighs 105 kg. That is about the same size as Hooper - but since he makes no contribution to breakdown ball protection and recovery - he is no Hooper. For the rest he is a small guy. The average height of loosies nowadays are 1,92 to 1,94 and weighs between 110 and 116 kgs,
He played in 28 tests and he scored 4 tries only - 3 against Argentina and 1 against France.
He played in 60 Super Rugby games and scored 5 tries
He has a very low tackle count and routinely miss tackles against physically bigger p layers.
On the whole he is not a satisfactory loosie and the gift to him is indeed questionable. On the whole he is bound to contribute to weakening if the Springbok and Stormers sides by being a non-productive loosie.
In the case of the Stormers - even though he is the titular captain - he does not contribute leadership in the team - the organization of the forwards are handled by Etzebeth or Du Toit the backline is handled by De Allende.
One can never read what Erasmus really has in mind here - a logical rugby decision it definitely was not - since he by some distance is not the best openside loosie in SA..
Rassie has shown himself up as a BS artist going by the spin he's rolling out to justify Kolisi's selection as Bok skipper. He only has himself to blame, he made the decision no-one else and to lay the blame on his circumstances is more BS. Said we should give him a fair shake but that goes out the window now that he's insulted the intelligence of Bok fans.
Kolisi is no captain, nice enough fella but he has zero leadership skills. On current form he should not even be in the squad.
