And we are about to take on France is it time to ditch the normal protocols and just go for broke
By this I mean the back to play protocols for those coming back from injury - that is Am, Pollard and RG
Do we stick with the protocols and compromise the strength of our starting side or do we go fuck it let’s pick our best side thereby giving us the best chance of beating France. We know what the French are doing, they are desperate to play Dupont to the point they want him to wear a mask.
Without doubt we need to be doing the same. With Pollard vs Libbok it’s a close call so either way we can’t really go wrong. It makes more sense to start Pollard and make sure we build scoreboard pressure.
When it comes to Am and RG we are dealing stars vs pretenders. Real lock with skill, size and presence vs a lightweight physical liability. A centre with silky skills and a rugby brain vs a robotic stopgap.
It’s a no brainer, we have to throw caution to the wind, just that Am is fit and that his experience will carry him and see him slot straight back into the class act that he is. RG has now had enough game time post injury to start ahead of pretender Mostert
If we seriously want to challenge for this WC, Am and RG have to start and play 5O min as a minimum
Am can be covered by Moodie on the wing or Willemse at 15. RG can be covered by Kleyn on the bench or PSDT at 7.
Come on Rassie make the right call - it simply can’t be Mostert at 5 and Kriel at 13

Let’s hope RG and AM is fit to start. But Mostert is definitely needed in the Starting 23. Let’s see what Rassie does, but the First half is the most important and we can,t afford loosing any points.

AM knows the defensive system, so there is no excuse to pick Kriel.
If AM is not fit enough for the whole game - then shift Moodie from wing to 13 in the 2nd half.
We need to get as many X-factors players on the field, as the game breakers.

Ha ha funny joke : ) I can think of better candidates for Carrying the TB,s….a Combo of AE and AM can be marvellous as AE passes the Ball more and AM can do the rest.

I thought you guys had said that in 2023 Am had been playing poorly compared to previous years. Wouldn’t that make him a serious risk to throw into the deep end in the knockout rounds??

Moodie is the obvious choice.
He is fit and could have had a bunch of games under the belt by now...next to AE.
Instead we have faffed around with Kriel, never supposed to be a Bok in my opinion ,and now brining Am back like he's not gonna miss a beat.
Zero confidence shown in AE and Moodie. Unbelievably poor show from the coaches.

I don’t think DDA and Moodie has played together yet? That might be a mistake . AE and CM now that makes more sense. For the important games Rassie goes to what worked in the past.
Will it work again is the Golden Question…He believes that DDA and Am will do it for us again. The problem is Am might not be fit for our Quarters. Then we stuck with Kriel again because that is who Rassie will most probably choose with DDA. ….I personally don’t have much confidence in DA & Kriel to get us thru. If Am is fit, we’ll have a better chance.

The one game this year where the backs truly misfired and make mistake after mistake was the one that DDA and Kriel started.
Between just those two players, there were something like 9 errors. Clear errors. There were more but those are the indisputable ones.
It's inexcusable, and it's frankly bloody frightening, to see how people lie to themselves rather than observe what is right in front of them, and make up their minds based on evidence rather than all the sports jargon, false hope, and fanboy pride.
I can't stand cowardly things and going with two players simply because you you're afraid to make the brave choice isn't something I can get behind. On the the contrary, I hate the entire idea of picking "experience" simply for the sake of experience. To me, it's a way for a coach to cover his arse if it all goes tits up.
Like AE hasn't been playing pro rugby all his adult life. Like he doesn't know what Tests are about. Picking Kriel ahead of Moodie, clearly a generational talent, is the most cowardly move of all. It ticks me off to the point where it's made me lose interest in the competition.
France are going to have us for breakfast.

Well said Plum. Faith grows empty without works. 5 Years down the line and Rassie stills wants us to believe that Stampkar Party will win us the WC. The chances of that is low as Ireland has already proved they can Front our Bok pack and win us. So did France. They know the Rassie structure by now and knows how to beat us….Coming close, is not winning….we have exiting backs but not the coaching structure to ignite them. ..R&N must bring something new but I doubt they can.

Yeah I won't be brave enough to call a clear win for anyone in our side of the quarters. You just need to outwiggle your opponent on the day, and any of the quarters sides can do that to anyone else. I'll favour Ireland over the ABs though. I've seen too little of France recently so they're an unknown to me, could go either way.

The Bons team with a function al 12/13 is a vastly different one to that with a dis functional 12/13 combo.
It's night day.
And unfortunately it's the shit combo that will play France.
