So what are the lessons from a great series....Lions/ABs

The ABs were the better team out there today, except for two things the Lions brought .....defence and goal kicking. The kicking alone was a 12 point swing, two kicks the Lions could have missed and two kicks the ABs should have made. Massive.....if Barrett is to have the glorious AB career his talent promises it may come down to finding another position to do the kicks. ... Then there is defence. The Lions rush defence closed out the ABs short passing game and forced them into tactical kicking.....which became a huge part of the game. The offload....mostly not avaIlable with double tackles inside. ... This was in effect the Lions playing traditional Bok rugby, better than the Boks and being very competitive. You can't say the game has changed till it changes in a massive series like this or the WC knockouts. When the chips are down the old virtues and skills are still very potent.

 I won't say the Allblacks were the better team. I think Barret's intercept saved the series for the Allbl acks. 

Honestly didn't think Lions would be able to impose their game plan like they did and nullify the AB's attacking ability to such a degree. Tremendous effort and execution on defense. Fitness levels and scrambling defense impressive for a NH team.
They laid out the blueprint on how to compete with the ABs, but not sure any other team will have the ability to pull it off.
Meyers Boks could, but not the current crop. Don't have the kickers, or the defense. 2021 could be a bloodbath.
Connor Murray the player of the series, closely followed by Faletau. Murray was simply brilliant, particularly his box kicking.
Beauden Barrett is no Dan Carter who is still in a league of his own for his all round ability.
Brodie Retallick player of the series for the ABs.
Hansen was out coached by Gatland.
Have to think if Billy Vunipola had been healthy, the Lions take the series. He's a difference maker, especially in these type of games.

How did Read escape a HIA? Or did I miss him going off for it? 

Agree Vunipola would have been huge in these physical games.

If he missed that kick ... and if the other made that kick ... blah, blah, blah ... things is, the didn't and that lead to the end result and a series draw.

We all saw what happened. The All Blacks were definitely not the better team. They were lucky to come away with a draw.
