So what do the Allende faithful say now.

For 2 years it's been obvious Allende has major defensive issues. Just basic tackling is a problem, but also positioning. At one  moment too deep, then rushing and failing to make the tackle. Your 12 needs to be a defensive leader, Allende can't even rise above his own immediate responsibilities.

But he is an attacking phenom his fans would say. Nope he has scored two tries in 18 tests....one against the USA, the other vs Ireland. And I'm not sure he has earned one assist. Jean scored at more than twice that rate.

Still the tractoring does throw up good defenders beaten stats. But it is done at such slow pace, it rarely results in a clean break. And if he can't crack the defence running, he never does so with the pass. He can't seem to see the opportunity. There were a few games last year  where he seemed to be modeling himself on SBW and looked for the offload....but no more.
So in spite of his strength, he doesn't threaten the better  defences. He is a sterile figure out there. Which is sad, he seems like a nice man but not smart enough for any self diagnosis. Perhaps a great backline coach can harness the physicality, but so many great rugby players are great because they read the game better, I just can't see Allende doing that.
Just another example of potential not realized in the white hot pressure of international rugby.

Dave I have seen zero support for Allende in the last two weeks. Coetzee is just confirming the general view.

De Jongh contributed nothing as expected.
Just another weed. Just another quota. Just another favour done for friends.

 Or bring in Van Rensburg - but or heaven's sake do something logical for a change.  By the way Mozart has always been a huge De Jongh supporter - his only moan at present  is He was not used at 13.   Idiocy supreme I call that.

De Allende against Argentina 20 August:
3 runs for 7 meters2 tackles made, 1 missed
De Allende against Argentina 27 August:
9 runs for 45 meters1 tackle made, 4 missed
De Jongh against Australia:
9 runs for 24 meters8 tackles made, 1 missed
De Jongh clearly more solid on defense. Also more involved in the play than De Allende was in the first test against Argentina. De Allende better on the run in the second Argie test, but a revolving door on defense with a pathetic 20% tackle success. Hard to say who is worse than the other. You win some, you lose some.

Well that sums up CC....thick as a proverbial brick. We tried the Allende thing for so many tests. I can't think of one thing of importance he has done in all those tests. De Jongh is not the long term answer but yesterday at least our defence was aligned correctly and the tackles were made.

 WE tried the De Jongh thing again and he went AWOL again!!!!!

 Incorrect...our centres made 18 of 19 tackles yesterday. In the test against Bargie we made 2 of 6....better positioned because of de Jongh, better technique, better communication.
