So what is happening at the Bulls?

Before going into details with due regard to the history of the Bulls over the past two decades.   Up to 2003 the Bulls regularly was bottom of the log of the Super Rugby series.   Meyer was appointed as Bulls coach and spent two years building up the squad and teaching them about his own game plan he developed.  

Basically the plan entailed limiting the usage of the backline and concentrating  on how the forwards can rule in Super Rugby.   To his credit the plan worked and the Bulls became very competitive in Super Rugby.   After a successful  period as Bulls coach the Bulls and Cheetahs were instrumental to get rid of White as Springbok coach - but not successful in thier bid to appoint Meyer a Springbok coach.  

After that fiasco Meyer was appointed by the Bulls as Director of Rugby and Ludeke was  appointed as Bulls coach,  Because the law changes of 2008 only slowly got implemented  the Bulls continued  to be successful while Meyer and Ludeke were in joint control.   However, Meyer left the Bulls in 2012 and problems started to arise.  In 2013 the Bulls were still competitive, but the wheels started to come off.   By 2014 and 2015 the Bulls were very, very poor and it became clear that the game plan inherited from Meyer was not working anymore.   The clueless Ludeke  was blamed for the emss and hisc ontract with the Bulls was not renewed. 

The Bulls had serious financial problems and appointed Marais as coach - even more clueless about modern rugby than his two predecessors, he failed badly.   So in 2018 the Bulls entered into a contract with Mitchell and a slow rebuilding process commenced.   Jones wanted Mitchell as an assistant in the English Coaching contract and bought him out leading to the appointment of Pote Human as coach.

So now we have Pote and a coach with a 15 man rugby approach and in the first matches it was evident something fresh and new \is happening at the franchise.   Remgro got 50% shareholding in the franchise and that saved the Bulls financially,   Remgro made sure the franhise had a strong financial base and sound management

Something positive is happening at the Bulls and from what we hae seen thus far all is positive insofar as the Bulls is concerned,   May it go on successfully.        

Pota Human was a tough player and won't allow traditionally lazy Bools to loaf away. He will insist they play to their potential - achieving even a most fortunate win against the Mighty Stormers. Would they beat the Stormers in a returm match. Probably not barring injuries. 

How did I know Mikey-kun would harp on about Meyer? This current team isn't even a spec to the team Meyer won with in 2007. Ludeke also did better. The real question is this, when will Rassie take the Boks towards the modern game Meyer successfully implemented? That's what this is really about. Smarting after your losses and looking for a familiar chord to pluck. 

Pollard was playing for the Bulls in 2014 and 2015 as well.  He was not successful then and is now.  Why?

This is really what happened to the Bulls over the last two decades.   The bottom for Ludeke - who was a flop as coach of the Lions - fell out when Meyer became the Springbok coach in 2012 and even though he  still managed to keep the Bulls competitive in 2012 and 2013 - it became  a total disaster in 2014 and 2015.   

Listen  dimness - I did not harp on Meyer I gave him credit for what he did at the Bulls with what was in 2004 a logical plan that only became obsolete by 2011 when the teams started to implement the rule changes of 2008.   

Now back to your topic.   By 2015 the Bulls and the Springboks were in a disastrous condition and both Meyer's and Ludeke's contracts were not renewed.    FACT

Rassie is not stupid - he knows more in his little finger about rugby than an Meyer and Ludeke combined  do  in their whole bodies.    That "modern game"  Meyer introduced while Springbok coach NEVER happened and  is a figment of your imagination.   So no more fairy tales please.  

So far, we have kicking in the opponents half. Kicking off 9, kicking off 14 and 11 and kicking off 15. Kicking off 12 was another addition. Then there was kicking off 10. How many aimless kicks was it? Then the one accurate test, Rassie botched. 

The Bulls grew weaker when their core group of players departed. Losing Morné, Kirchner and Olivier was tough. They got Fouche, Serfontein and JJ, then Kriel. They did get lucky with Pollard, but you had a problem with him. 

Meyer's gameplan? Which one? There isn't one specific gameplan. There were numerous changes throughout his tenure as Bok coach alone. There is nothing from his 2015 teams that is obsolete now. Zero.

Meyer finally left the Bulls in 2012 and the result was a disaster by 2015 iro both the Bulls and the Springboks.   Both left the SA rugby environment at the end of 2015.   FACT   Both Meyyer and Ludeke proved to be failures as coaches by 2015.   

Then we have the idiot not claiming that Michell and his successor Human abandoned the  Bulls obsolete game plan initiated many years ago by Meyer.   Nobody claimed  that Human was not a coach for many years - but everyone admits that Human got a  new approach instilled at the Bulls leading to better results for the team  thus far this year in Super Rugby,   

The fools will never admit their idiocy - but it is clear for neutral observers as to what happened.

I never said that Meyer failed at the Bulls - I said clearly -

*   that Meyer after years of abject failure developed the Bulls into a  competitive team;

*   that he introduced a style of play with the Bulls that were successful up to about 2014 when the successes vanished because the style of rugby became obsolete;

*   that Ludeke was a flop at the Lions and was appointed by the Bulls with  Meyer taking him by the hand and helping him as a  coach'

*   that  after Meyer left Ludeke started goinbg on a downward slide and by 2015 he was a total flop.

That Meyer flopped in the end as Springbok coach is also a proven fact.

Fact is being a Bulls supporter blinded you to the problems which in the years 2014 and 2015 caused a collapse in the Bulls team.         

We are so obsessed with the modern game that we've lost the plot altogether.

Some of us have even tried to reinvent the wheel by coming up with the most absurd game plans all in the name of progress ... such as bypassing the play maker and making a forward the first receiver ... it's so predictable and totally ineffective. Ask Meyer.

Pote Human is an old school rugby man. He believes in keeping it simply ... he sticks to the basics of old school rugby ... ignores the modern game ... and insists the players play what's in front of them.

Pollard is not the be all and end all of Bulls rugby. That's the only thing that Faggot could come up with. LOL!!! Clueless fool.

They are playing the basics well and they're doing it as a team.

Pote Human in my opinion is the best coach in the country and should have been given a big franchise like the Bulls to coach ages ago.

Pote did well at the Griquas and also at Tukkies.   It is clear that he is giving the players more freedom to play thinking rugby compared to his predecessors did/  That I believe is why the Bul ls is doing better.   

Yes ... The Griquas were always a tough bunch at home.

Pote did wonders with the players he had. I've always admired him.

Pote should be given the task as Bk coach. Such a pity that quotas are a part of our society these days. I think Pote, with his old school ideology would make an excellent Bok coach.

Sadly the black man and his large chip will thwart any coaches attempt at bringing the Bok from where we find it today.
