For clueless Meyer to wake up to the fact that he is not going to challenge the best sides in the game with a side that will be averaging 30 by the WC.

We see week after week that players like Matfield, Bakkies, Steenkamp and Jean offer nothing of substance to the cause. We can dress Matfield up with line-out superiority when in fact his line-out work is no better than any other lock out there and the same can be said of his kick off takes. So what exactly does Matfield provide to the equation other than a physical liability......evidenced once again on Saturday when he was isolated with ball in hand and turned over for a penalty. What value does Matfield add over a young powerhouse lock like Willemse, who would add noticeable value to our efforts.

Same can be said of Bakkies coming off the bench, what value does he add, how can his selection on the bench be seen as progressive and a long term investment. We need energy and clout coming off the bench not an old man who spends most of his time huffing and puffing.

Steenkamp is doing what on tour, what is the point? Why not a young Schalk v/d Merwe or Thomas du Toit gaining valuable Bok experience.

When last did Jean look like he was going to threaten the opposition defences - what is the point of him being there. The result of his retention is playing Serfontein out of position at 13 for at least half a match and in the process, depriving a real 13 of cementing his place in the side.

The selections do not end here.......what value does Schalk bring, what value did Pienaar bring.......is it time to ask the same question of Habana and Jannie?

It was always on the cards that investment in players that have long past their prime was never going to reap rewards. Would losses to England and Wales facilitate the realisation that the current system is not working.

The poor performances earlier in the year and the dead rubber victory over NZ seemed to have covered the obvious cracks......what will it take for Meyer to realise he has his selections wrong as I have been maintaining for how long now?

We could not even beat a depleted Irish side, in fact we got thrashed

Well Saffex, I wouldn't get too excited about big changes before next year's RWC.

I don't think Meyer will be replaced before next year's RWC and I don't think Meyer is going to be making a lot of changes to his squad prior to next year's RWC.

He's pretty much committed to the old crocks now so we may as well just accept it and support him . . . even if we know he's selling us short with some of the geriatrics.

Oh I think we should stick with the newbies don't you. The way Stepfontein cut through the mid field....the brilliant service of Hougaard and Reinach.....the mojo of Mohoje.....and even those who weren't playing JJ, Lomp, Goosen......all those other match winners. a nd dont forget to include all the match winners who got our sides into the S15 final.

Rooi what makes things worse is that all his crocks are not available.......had Jaques Fourie and Pienaar been fit, they to would have been on board and will no doubt feature in the WC.

I would not be surprised to see Spies added to the mix as well, nothing is beyond Meyer and the class of 2007.

The man is clearly stuck in a time warp on many fronts

Mozart refuse to accept that players like Bakkies Botha and Steenkamp are way past it - Matfield is a player that sells us short in tight 5 play - a lightweight trying  to do the work of a man - and getting owned by opposition players.
He got a bonus because Hougaard was not uptoo standard - but cannot see when other players like Burger and De Villiers are not up to standard either.
I know before the end of the game whom he would blame for the defeat - it obviously would be Hougaard, Serfontein and Reinach - the players he always maligned.  He wrote crap elsewhere about Reinach missing  a tackle when he rushed up - but when that was proven false - he said that S exton beat him by breaking inwards - while Reinach expected him not and try to cover him sytraight in front.   On the inside was waiting Schalk Burger - who was supposed to cover an inside break - but he did not.   That malignant attack on Reinach brings to the fore a question - why is Reinach attacked - but De Villiers is justifed when he rushed out of defensive line and is beaten by other players.   No problem with the numeroous times that happen - but in rteinach's case it is a deadly sin.
He then went on to make a wild allegation of poor passes by Reinach of which there was no evidence during the time Reinach was on the field of play.   He obviously did not realize that Reinach made the pass to Willie - that set up the Pietersen try.
The attack on those players are used to cover the deficiencies of players like Habana, De Villiers, Matfield and Bakkies Botha.  Even though jannie du Plessis was better afterwards his first two scrumming efforts were flops and he started the rot by giving a penalty away in front of the posts as a result of deficient scrumming. - the frst points scored against us.

Yes that would be the Serfontein who playing out of position at 13 beat 5 defenders and made 1 clean break having only received the ball 10 times......yes that one......compare those stats to Jean.

Hougaard passed the ball 62 times of which 59 were good passes, but that's beside the point, he is young and had a great game against Oz and NZ so one miss fire would hardly be grounds to get rid of a youngster.

Oupa should not have been there......that is another Meyer selection blunder.

JJ, Goosen and Lood had nothing to do with it..........they weren't playing you fool so why bring them up huh?

The best players against Ireland were the youngsters in Coetzee, Willie, Pollard, Serfontein and Etzebeth......get the picture?

You are as stupid as Meyer in thinking the geriatrics are the answers.....too stupid, too conservative.

As for Spies, yes I was a big fan in his day, but conceded some 2 years back he was done.........a point you conveniently omit as per usual

Actually Jean also only received the ball 10 times....and made more metres than Steppie.....schplott. It was also Jeans penetration that set up the go forward for our last try. Jean will be so much better if he doesn't have to hold Steppie's hand, shifting between 12 and 13.

Hougaard was our biggest failure....only you wont accept that.

Oupa is not HM's selection, get that through your dim brain.

JJ, Goosen and Lood are the players you want to turn to....players who have had their chances, and failed.

The best players against Ireland were the Beast, Jannie, Vi ctor, Etzebeth and Pollard. They all did their jobs. Coetzee lost the breakdown battle big time.

Spies was never anything after his mysterious disappearance from RWC07....but it never dawned on you because he fitted your physical model of what a number 8 should look like.

Any more dumb thoughts?

Bhwaaahaaaaahaaaaa........Matfield one of the best players against Ireland.....what a bloody joke.

Coetzee did not lose the breakdown battle, next you will be telling us his opposite number did a better job......Coetzee dominated physically......more than the likes of Louw or Schalk have ever done.

So Jean gained all of 9m more that Jan......but he only beat 1 defender and made 1 clean break, compared to Jan who beat 5 defenders, yes 5 defenders and made one clean break.........so Moffie would you still say Jean was the better centre on the day you stupid plank.

Yeah just go check JJ's highlights for 2013 and tell me a 13 since have fared better you dunce. So Lood has failed in 2 and a half tests has he........wow. Same can be said of Goosen.......how bloody ignorant of you to conclude a player has failed after a handful of outings.....but more to the point, they never played against Ireland you dunce.

But hey your take on passenger Matfield being one of our best players on Sat is priceless........fuck me you are clueless

Just one question in response to the following:-
"Jean will be so much better if he doesn't have to hold Steppie's hand, shifting between 12 and 13".

Is Jean a passable 13 and is it his chpoice to at time take up the 13 position - after all he is supposed to be th captain?
Just one observation - whose hand was he holding when he was sub-apr for the Stormers this year?   Incidentally in mit matches he played for the Stormers when De Jongh was not available was at 13 - THROUGH HIS OWN CHOICE.  Why - because De Allende has the ability to create space for players - something lacking in De Villiers this year.   So please forget about the "holding hand" BS.
Just tell me - what exactly did Victor do to be adjudged one of the best players against Ireland.  His line outs was acceptable - the res t of his game piss-poor.   At 10  kg s lighter than any other reasonable lock - he is easy to lift in line - outs and in any event most other locks would take the line outs he took.  Was he effective in bal crries and what contribution did he make outside of takingline outs?  Zero - Zilch - Zero.   So forget about that making him of the best players for the Springboks.
Jannie was better than expected - but did h or did he not start the rot on Saurday when giving away a penalty in front of the goal posts for S exton to convert?
Coetzee was mentioned frequently as the best of the Springbok forwards - but according to you BS he lost the breakdown battle big time.

The problem with you is that you judge a player purely on one aspect of the game.  A lock is only needed for line out jumping - nothing else.   A flyhalf is only required for kicking at goal - nothing else.   A prop is only required fr scrumming - nothing else.
There is one question I asked repeatedly and you never answered - because you either are tooo dumb to answer or would not eb honest enpough to admit that there is a problem.   Of the greiatrics in the team - all played in the 2011 WC and they were showing zilch andd we went out early.   What will make them better in 2015 than they were in 2011?
Any more stupid thoughts - Dumbo?

Mozart most of those meters were made when Willie put him into space in the last 10 minutes of the match. Serfontein was left out to dry by De Villiers who created nothing or even gave Serfontein a millimetre of space.

Yeah those metres were thanks to Willie, but the real qualifier is 5 defenders beaten versus 1.........that's a 50% strike rate from Jan versus the 10% from Jean.....I wonder which centre did better?

Inside stepping that leads nowhere...it doesn't penetrate it's not dangerous, it doesn't lead to quick ball. You beat a few tackles and then you get turned As Steppie was twice against Ireland.
Jean has never been a convincing 13, he needs to play at 12 where he is far more likely to penetrate and offload than Step. Outside him we need a centre with pace and strength. I'm hoping HM picks JP on Saturday.
Coetzee tried hard...that's his calling card....but not effectively. We had no ground game except for the hookers. He falls between two stools, he is not a fetcher and he is not a power runner like other Bok 7s. We miss Alberts.
Victor made plenty of tackles. I keep hearing how he was owned physically, then I see him smearing the Irish prop. I hear how he sells us short in the scrums, but the Beast dominates his opponent. I hear he does nothing in the loose but I see he makes the second most tackles on the team and misses none.
So what next from the peanut gallery?

You are entitled to your opinion, but I suspect very few rugby experts would pick Step/ Damien a head of Jean/ JP vs England. Personally I have seen very little deftness from Steppie on the pass. But I will concede the offload to Hougaard was brave and he paid a price.
I'm not questions Step or Marcel's heart....they are competitors and they give a full hearted effort. I unfortunately believe they are both short on crucial physical talent. Step is too slow and predictable. And Marcel is neither a 6 nor a very satisfactory ball carrying seven

You are also entitled to your opionion - but one question remains - was Jean de Villiers performance this year on par with last year - Yes or NO will do.

I once created a calculator to calculate what effect a match outcome would have on the world rankings but I haven't got the energy to recreate that now. If I recall correctly, if you beat a team ranked higher than you by more than 15 points you get lots of ranking points. If you beat a team 10 points below you on rank, you can beat them by 1000 points - would have no difference etc.

I am thinking, if South Africa lose by more than 15 points to England, and the Aussies beat France......South Africa could end up 4th on the world rankings after this weekend ?

I think at present, that would be a more realistic position for South Africa. 4th. I wonder what positives ou Heyneke will get from that. Every time we have nearly lost to Wales etc. he has had praise for the character of the team to pull it through instead of addressing the issues that garnered such a close result. I wonder what he will say about a sudden drop to 4th ?

Heyneke '4de plek' Meyer....got a good ring to it....

2 point win at home in a dead rubber against a disinterested All Black team....and the poor oke thought he had a team of world beaters...

Saffex - what would actually give me a bit of a semi wood would be if Heyneke the almighty would come forward and admit that his over inflated, narcissistic view of himself which caused him to send a player like Frans Steyn packing is exactly what will make him a 'forgettable' Springbok coach.

If he would do that (which he absolutely would not), I would actually back off and be more tolerant. But the guy is a law unto himself and has a head so big than only his 'yes men' can fit their ego into the same room as him. As I said before, must be something in the water because there is a huge amount of 'delusions of grandeur' going on in Pretoria. Okes there rate themselves very highly.

Early call - Boks will make the quarter final next year and that will be it. We will not play in the semi-final. About the correct level of reward for Heyneke's efforts.

If I was Frans Steyn I would make Heyneke beg him on his knees, wear a arm band with 'What Would Francois Do' on it and wash the teams post training underwear by hand (old school with a wash board) for 2 weeks before I come back to the team.

I fear you are utilizing your measuring stick that is labelled 'Sharks' once again for Francois. I tell you what - Joost Vd. Westhuizen would be a better bet at 10 than Handre Pollard.

Beeno - I am not winding anyone up. Before the tries in the dead rubber against the All Blacks - what in your opinion merited Pollard's promotion to first choice Springbok flyhalf ? If possible - serious answer please.

Even the Bulls dumped him when their opening stanza in Super rugby went South. Now he is Nr 1 Bok flyhalf ? He had a useless game - worse than Hougaard by comparison.

Honestly, it is like being in the twilight zone. What has got everyone so enamored by Handre Pollard ? Is it perhaps because we are so desperate for a real flyhalf ?

How any national coach can be so out of touch with the talent he has at his disposal is disgraceful. Agreed the fact that he let Frans slip speaks volumes for the man.
We will exit after the quarter finals thanks to Meyers ill conceived idea of what constitutes a winning side. The man irritates the shit out of me.
