So what went wrong?

I tried to figure out what went wrong - and as per normal I can guess that in the absence of De Allende it was obvious is Du Toit but I am going to be serious about it and say I was not happy with the team selection and was correct in many respects.

So how can one play a loosie who make 8 tackles and missed 4? Anyway the other loosies were no better.   Whitely made 7 tackles missing none and the loosie with the highest work rate was Kolisi - but his tackle count was low for a loosie.  

The Argentinians ran circles around our backline and the question is why?   Who can be blamed for that.  The tackle count was low.   All backline players combined made 20 tackles and missed 10.   Besides that they were also guilty of 11 possession handovers/    Although Esterhuizen looked good in patches - he is slow and his carries routinely let to nothing.  A strong guy with limitations - that one.  Look like he was ball hogging though,   

And beside his yellow Etzebeth's performance was very average and Mostert was no better.   He made 5 tackles and missed 2m while his ball carries were poor.

...according to a few SA posters around here that have been calling for the Australian coach to be sacked the coach is ultimately to blame...so by their logic the SA coach should also be sacked ....see how ridiculous their argument has become... 

What went wrong? Tackling for one. It was bad, especially the outside backs.

Physicality, many on here said the Boks had it but it wasn't on display today. Bad judgement, they seemed to give up possession too easily. After the yellow it seemed to go downhill as Boks were in catch- up mode. There was effort but too many mistakes and lack of continuity

A lot of forced last passes and not being patient was a huge problem. 

We should of looked to play more phases instead of trying to score off every touch.

Willy also kills any chance out wide with those long skip passes. Defenders just drift onto the wing who is now tight to touch. 

I thought Esterhuizen was good in his role as a crashball. Some offloads as well.

Argies were just up for it more especially at the breakdown where they spoiled a lot and missed tackles made us pay.

What happened: AR showed enough interest to try to beat SA.

That is all. They overcome the permanent bullying of SA manners with perpetual threats of moving north to end the funding etc

SA team was not poorer than their usual. AR was not better than they usually can do.

The difference is that AR played dedicatedly, which has not happened in years against SA because of the threats, the tantrums etc

Esterhuizen was one of the better Boks on the day. Damian has never played at this level for the Boks or Stormers. Esterhuizen was tough, calm, positionally sound, was very effective getting over the gainline, was available on the outside a few times, got an offload away and made his tackles head on and laterally. In what way did he contribute to the loss? This is the kind of prejudice that leaves you in error Clever Mike. You're always wrong because of your erratic emotional state and prejudice. In a physical game with little space or time Damian would have been at a loss, again.

The worst starting Boks were Beast and Mostert. Steph was very impactful up when he came on, a shame he couldn't have been on with Eben. Louw was quiet. Malherbe was also quiet. Am didn't get into the game much but was for the most part sound. Willie made a few mistakes. The wings didn't get any space on the outside. Dyanti should have been brought in more in my opinion, looking for work like Habana would have done. Perhaps too lateral from the Boks. There were a few tries they botched which changed the complexion of the game.

When New Zealand attacked they used more screens and layers. The Boks at times were too transparent and too shallow. 

What a lark we have here.   We must always believe what AO says - after all he and Mozart are the top rugby analysts in the world.   When he says something did not happen - then everybody must bow down and say "we bow to your superior knowledge, my lord" 

Who are you to talk? You say Louw was useless last week, contrary to everyone else and vulgarly try to bully everyone into submission with zero information. 

He was useless last week and worse this week - comprehende?
