Give me 129kg Marcel v/d Merwe over Jannie anyday......how Jannie made that TOW over the Argie 3 is laughable.

Jannie is solid enough but we have better youngsters

Saffx, where do you get Marcel's weight at 129kg? He looks way smaller than that and the weight given on sites range between 112 and 115kg's

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaaaa!!!

Jannie scrums against the pathetic Wallabies and now suddenly he's a world beater. A must for the Bok 3 jersey.

Typical delusional horse manure.

No doubt Meyer will see it that way too. I'm surprised he hasn't already spoken ol Jannie up as t he "awesome" the "brilliant" tighthead we're privileged to have playing for us.

I liked the way Marcel chased Horne down the wing.....even though he was ultimately gassed. But can he scrum? His outing against Scotland wasn't promising.

18 Marcel van der Merwe: (on for Oosthuizen, 50 min)

Enjoyed getting a few runs under his belt but did not sure up the scrum very much.6/10

Marcel was as solid as they came against Scotland, did not budge an inch and has been the same for the Bulls all year.

Bigger and stronger than Jannie and far more to offer

Oh sure 25 lbs heavier than Etzebeth....the man is a giant. But the reporters take on the scrumming was correct.

Huh.....Etzebeth weighed 125kg last year.

The reporter said stuff all.....may I suggest you rely on your eyes........or better still name a single scrum against Scotland where he was anything but solid.......that game must be on Youtube

And here's what Sports 24 said backing up my claim

50'- The whole Bulls front row is off.

51'- And immediately the Bulls win a scrum penalty with their new front row! Mellett, Maku and van der Merwe must feel bad now...

55'- The Bulls scrum is now absolutely demolishing the Rebels.

72'- The Bulls win a tighthead off a Rebels scrum. My word, they have markedly improved in this area in the second half....

Marcel went off after 50 minutes.....hahahaha.....does that sound like he was dominating. Nope he was useless....another porker lie exposed.

Wrong Moffie.......its just a pity that idiot who wrote that, failed to observe the most obvious fact......I wonder what that was?

As pointed out at the time, the Rebels had made frontrow subs themselves and in the time Marcel was on the field, the Bulls scrum stood firm - FACT

So don't bullshit and lie that he was useless for that is about as pathetic as your call on Morne have a good game but for his failure to find touch.........missing the fact that he missed 7 tackles on the day accounting for the worst bloody defensive display by a Bok back ever by all accounts

Man you are such easy pickings old man

SA Rugby.net  - official home of the Springboks - give Marcell's weight at 128kg. As Marcell is a recent Bok it is likely ther stats are recent and correct.
He is a big unit and I have no problem with believing he is 128 kg.

When a commentator speaks I listen, reading has nothing to do with it and the SA rugby site has him at 128 kg.  But more than anything he looks 125 kg plus and not some insulting 1 12 kg.
The size of bismark, bwhaahaaaaaa.
Marcel is a mountain of a man

Draad you are just plain stupid go take your pills and change your glasses.
Moffie is an old fart with failing eye sight.  His rugby takes are confirmation of that....are you also an old fart?

Com now dave
Mozart says Van der Merwe weighs 112 kgs - so everybody else in the world must be wrong.  Mozart's findings include -
*   Serfoitein is too slow to be a good enough center;*   Taute has little weak legs, etc, etc
He also believes Matfield at 106kgs is physical strong enough to play at lock and provide the necessary power in scrums and mauls.
Nobody can argue with Mozart - he always believes he is  right and can never be proven as wrong - because he would nt accept any prove contrary to his believes - an absolutely closed mind if ever there was one.  .
