Sotutu exposes the lock as flank trend

When Sotutu...10 runs, 61 metres, 6 defenders beaten....burst round the blindside from the scrum...the sycophantic commentator said ‘Pieter Steff du Toit hunts him down’. True, but not until he made 30 metres round Dud’s side and slowed down to beat a tackle.

‘It helps to have a quick number 8’....he said. True. But it also helps to have a lumbering lock trying to stop him.

Expect to see this more and more as opposing sides realize Dud’s side of the scrum is easy pickings.

The game plan when playing against SA teams in SuperXV appears to be targeting the space around the ruck. SA loosies are not getting to the ruck quick enough to close down space. Make a clean break from the ruck, and then bring the wingers into the game and score. The rush defence at this stage is totally flat- there is always a 2/1 attack vs defence ratio on the outside

Hahahaha.....what a joke. Watching Dud today lumbering around it’s hard to believe he is the best lock  in Malmesbury let alone World Player of the Year.

Dr Moz stirring the pot again and trashing 2019 world rugby player of the year.

Du Toit if course is quicker and bigger than Moz favorite Juan Smith.

Normally though a wing should be quicker than any other position on the field especially a forward.

Dr Moz should think more deeply on the subject. Tip - when you want to stir the pot make sure you have a case. Hahahahahaha.

Fancy Moz going on about the best player in the world per 2019. He has been on Steph case for years now.

PSDT looked tired...probably over-played and maybe the Bye will be good for Stompies.

Very poor display by Stormers, the Blues versatility flummoxed them entirely.

Maybe they peaked too early and good win over Canes got to their head.

They needed a wake-up.

Look what's ahead of them though...tough away games :

Sharks, Jaguares, Chiefs, Crusaders, Brumbies.

Home games...Rebels, Waratahs, Sharks and Lions which they could win.

But the away games will be tough calls.

Seb on this form it's a lost cause. I can only hope I saw them on a bad day.

Oh nonsense PSDT has more than enough pace for a blindside, I’ve seen many a slower 7 in my time

I've failed to notice the similarities with Juan Smith before, but now that it has been mentioned there are a few.

It’s not pace....it’s pace off the mark. These long shanked guys simply can’t explode off the side of the scrum. Which is why Sotutu exposed him yesterday and why he couldn’t stop the potential WC losing Welsh try...also off his side of the scrum.

It also makes it very hard to fetch.Dud tried a few times yesterday but he was simply too upright and easily tipped over despite being in prime position to make a turnover.

As he gets into his late twenties these issues will be more pronounced. Move him back to lock......and puleeze spare  us those bankrupt runs on the wing!

That Welsh try had absolutely nothing to do with PSDT He like the rest of the Stormers side were off the mark yesterday, I don’t recall the incident you are referring to. Playing PSDT at 7 works as he has been fantastic there and it then allows the Boks to play Lood or RG at 5 It allows us to accommodate our best players on the park at once

Of course it had everything to do with Dud....it was a try scored round his side of the scrum. He never broke off early enough, got trapped and failed to cover his marker. So with  an overlap building  Am came in to cover and left the Wally wing to stroll in.

Get real....since when does the flank have no defensive duties Dave. The blindside flanker has a key role off scrums.

It’s this kind of laughable b/s that gets me.....it’s so obvious he failed to contribute in a key defensive situation and the media ignores it as if it didn’t happen. And the Dud groupies go into total denial when faced with the facts.

Disagree I watched that passage of play and no flank would have made an impression in that situation not even a quick open side You are wrong Moz it’s your anti PSDT talking here

Well we will have to agree to disagree....I’m not anti Dud....just anti Dud bias. Dud is a decent lock, probably our best after Etzebeth, Snyman and Mostert and ahead of the useless Lomp.

To call Dud the best rugby player in the world is hilarious.

He is 100 times better than useless Mostert He is not the best rugby player in the world agreed but he is very very good It’s difficult to make a call on who the best rugby player is I’d probably stick with Barrett
