South Africa cannot win gamea where the selections are not on merit

The situation in the game between the England Saxons and the  SA "A" team confirmed what I wrote when the team was announced - there is no way the selected SA team could win the game.   They were a bit better in the second half when some critical replacements were made.

Lets look at the game as a whole.  The problem was exactly where I oiubnted out serious deficiencies,  The loosies did not do their job insofar as ball protection and recovery are concerned and there was serious problems with ball possession losses.   Of the SA “A” team the following players had shockers:-

Garth April, Howard Mnisi, Scara Ntubene.  

It is not surprising that April is the bench flyhalf for the Sharks 0 he has had one try scored in Suer 15 and now suddenly the greatest asshole in the world wanted to see how he performs when given an  opportunity to play.   He was given that opportunity and made  an unholy  mess of it.   It is also no surprise that Ackerman in recent Super Rugby  matches preferred to start with Van  Rensburg in games.   Mnisi is a ball possession loss specialist and his defense was poor.   He brought zero to attacking play as well.    Ntubene was just plain BS.    

Zas is no full back and he should play on the wing.   Skosan also missed some tackles and we just cannot afford players like that in tams playing competitive rugby    

 Marx has been punted by all as our top hooker. He fcked up the last lineout that ultimately lost us the opportunity to win the match. Does that make him a bad player? No. This was a team for opportunities for fringe players. A bit of a step up for unexposed players. The shell shocked first half showcased our naivety, we adapted and came back from a sure loss to within a point. Lesson learned I hope.

 The fi rst half was before the replacements came on - they showed better performance - but I am still saying that it is one step too many for most of the players,  They may develop further - especially the youngsters - but I am afraid that Mnisi,  April and Ntubene will not improve.   Nubene and Mnisi are lately basically bench players - so they are BEE selections - nothing more.  

 Next game start with RG and Schickerling. I like Lewies but what a difference RG made hitting the rucks and just his support play wqs better.

 RG is very unlucky not to be on the bench for the Bok team

 Enough with the excuses already

The Saxons went to sleep in the second half. Had they continued they would easily have racked 50.
Pity.
I was hoping for an absolute thumping.
Tell you one thing ... if that's the Bok feeder team the we should be ranked 10th and beyond in no time.

 Win what games? Winning competitions matters. Winning games is a necessary step to win a competition, nevertheless, winning games by itself does not matter.

This proper one is much more disturbing though as it is adverse to the point generally made on this forum.

Because as it stands, South Africa cannot win a competition, whatever the selection method is.

That is how the way things are.

South African players are selected to lose competitions, since they cant win them.

While you can argue that the best are needed to win, a selection to lose is way broader and open to many more candidates.

Kind of funny that people cling to their loser's seat. Seems like that sense of entitlement is hard to go.

You cant play substandard players selected on skin colour. It peasees JW that this happens but not true rugby fans.

 You can play substandard players of any skin colour when it comes to lose competitions.

That is what SA rugby has been doing for a long time now (considering that the game got into a professional era)

In SA, players are not selected to win competitions. They are selected to win competitions.

The best part of it: you could access to white excellent men demands and field only white players, the team wont win competitions.

At this time, then the external cause will tick in: the failure to win a competition will not come from the team, but from an external cause. Too much pressure from an antagonizing political climate or anything like that.

Fighting over loser' seat. Apparently, in SA, this kind of seats are the exclusive of white people.
