"Having followed up their 2019 World Cup triumph with success in the recent Test series versus the Lions, Springboks fans are not used to losing and there is upset about a run of defeats that hasn’t been experienced for five years dating back to the era when Allister Coetzee was unconvincingly in charge of the team."

One would think that this coaching team has been dominating world rugby. We had a stretch of 8 tests where we won three in 2018. No outcry. In 2019, we faced Australia and Argentina at home, then on away tests where we drew against New Zealand. What then? Lost to New Zealand, then strings of minnow contests. The feeble Lions series, dubbed the worst of all time, put into proper context by the loses to Australia and New Zealand. Has José enlisted the services of a Sangoma and cast a spell upon South Africans? We have a 55% win record this season, which will be 50% if we lose to New Zealand this Saturday. Which is on course for the 50% achieved in 2018. Coetzee achieved 53% in 2017. Some serial winners we are. No wonder the Kiwis and Aussies laugh at us.

Bok fans don't support that which hurts it. Every fact I posted remains a fact. Perspective dear Sitzsack. Time to trade in your game day glasses...

But not the best team in the world. Finished third in the RC, bottom of most statistical categories. The same frailties persist. An emotional effort will not bring sustained results. You're kidding yourself if you think yesterday changed the big picture in any meaningful way. For world champions, the plastiks have very low standards. Doesn't take much to keep stringing them along. As predicted before the competition.
