So Samoa once again lived up to their number 1 ranking of the most dirtiest team.

1) Grabbing a player by his testicales! - I wonder if the rest of the Samoa team were a bit wary of the coward Solialo when it came to shower time?

2) Stiff arm tackle to JDV's chin - Well done to JDV for getting up.

3) Kicking Coenie - Well done to Coenie for keeping his cool.

But I think there is more to it, maybe the wee Ab's asks Samoa to do them these favour because they can't do it themselve's? Unless your Andrew Hore who can only take cheap shots hitting  player from the back. Same favour they asked Bryce Lawrence?

Why do NZ and Samoa also never play against each other????

Bokbe I have just asked the question as to whether we have had Samoa in our pool in every world cup we have played.

There does appear to be a strong connecrtion. I visited some Polynesian rugby websites some years ago and one comment was the abs were the best polynesian team in the world. They regard themselves as part of ab rugby and will do what they can t o ensure the abs win. Possibly why they are still  rugby colonies of nz? Hence their consistent attempt to injure the Boks at the WC via cheap shots.

Note something else as well. The Samoans in my view did not play dirty against either Italy or Scotland. I had hoped they were on a new path.

No, as Moz says, something has to be done.  The IRB needs to have a serious talk to the oaks and tell them to clean up their act or face the consequences. SARFU should enquire as to how it is we always get these oaks in our pool.

That Solialo got away with this is total nonsense. The still arm deseved a years ban at least. Red card is not enough. Still message needs to be sent out.Jean could have ended in a wheel chair.

As for the abs I do believe that despite some poor discipline while on tour in the NH (and their loutish fans as well!!) the abs are  a cleaner side today than in the past.  They are more subtle about the dark arts these days. Its all about getting away with it by whatever means possible. We hope too that here the  IRB keeps a close watch on proceeedings via ref stats and performances etc. Perhaps they should appoint that beacon of virtue Bob Dywer to assist in rooting out corruption?

Bok-Bef...  The last time the Abs played Samoa (2008), we beat them 101-14. We've only ever played them 5 times to the Boks' 8. A bit disgraceful seeing they're in our part of the world!

Whilst the Boks get Samoa in just about every WC, we get to play Tonga who in my view play even more recklessly than the Samoans!

Moooo  la the Tongans I agree can be as bad. We have had both Samao and Tonga both in our WC pool.

At least we have rare agreement as to the problem.

Hell - what a load of rubbish can we get ourseleves into. As I understand the situation as to WC requirements - there are 4 Groups in each WC. The top four ranked teams are assigned to top the list of countries in each group. The next process is to take teams ranked 5 to 8 and draw lots to determine which groups they go into. Once that has been done - the same process is repeated for teams ranked 9 to 12, etc No individual country has any say as to the result of the process and to say that it is manipulated is nonsense. Fact is Samoa - if they remain rank 7 will be in the first draw of the teams to be allocated next WC and could end up with any of the four groups. What is more interesting is next years Under 20 WC. Because of their fourth position this year - the three groups the teams are divided into will be headed by England (Group A), Wales (Group B) and South Africa (Group C) - and the same process would be followed as described above. New Zealand can hence end up in the same group as SA as the second-ranked team in that group. There is however a two out of three chance that they would be in another group - so lets wait and see what happens. SA has a 25% chance to draw Samoa in the next WC and that will not be determined by anything else than the actual draw process. In view of our past record against them - I think it would be lucky for us to draw them as the second ranked tea in our group. Where I do have a problem with new Zealand is that they are not doing enough to promote rugby as a world wide sport. South Africa does a lot to promote rugby as a sport in Africa and in South America. One would assume the New Zealanders should do the same in East Asia and the Pacific Islands - but they do zilch in that regard. Australia has problems in promoting rugby in Australia itself - and they are indeed trying much to achieve that - so their role in other countries cannot produce much. Come on - now New Zeland - you are not doing your duty in that regard. Why not for instance get the national teams of Japan, and the Pacific Islands to play in the ITM?

The Samoan connection with nz is huge. I think what gets under their skin is they cant out gun the Boks physically etc.

Here is a list of Samoan players who have played for other sides. Shows they have talent but their thuggery is putting people off. Found this info on Wekipedia.

Samoan Players Representing Other International Teams List of players from the past & present that are Samoan descent or part Samoan descent that were born in Samoa or in foreign countries that have represented and played for other international teams. Australia (Wallabies) England[edit] Fiji (The Flying Fijians)[edit] Japan (The Brave Blossoms)[edit] New Zealand (All Blacks)[edit]

·         Bryan Williams ·         Ma'a Nonu ·         Casey Laulala You can see who has been riding on the shoulders of Samoan talent-- yes Sir the wee abs - who else. But shed no tears for the rugby colonised Samoans as they are very happy to provide rugby players to nz and have no aspirations of their own. So now one can see why they do what they can to injure Bok players at the WC and whenever we play them. This is way beyond conspiracy theory. We see it happening on the field. We can check their attitutde on Ploynesian rugby sites and we can see it here. Recall what was said when I asked if they were happy to be rugby colonies of Nz. The answer from Poly and the boys was that they were very proud to be abs. Also bear in mind the list is only Samoans who playe dfor Nz. It does not include samoans who played Super 15 etc but no for NZ!!!! Then add in Tonga and Fiji and you will understand the influence of the Islanders on nz rugby. Plonesians as I have always said are very talented rugby players but very dirty. Scrap the latter and they will have many fans Beeno fair and objective as ever.

Beno The point is not descent - but whether the listed players were borne in New Zealand and Australia. The point is that in the modern world you find a lot of economic migrants and even borne in Samoa the parents could have moved to New Zealand when they players were young and they in fact grew up in New Zealand and got their schooling there. There are hundreds of thousands of SA citizens who left here and ended up all over the world - there are also rugby-playing economic migrants already playing in foreign teams. The children of SA migrants will probably also grew up with rugby and many could end up in years to come and played for the countries where their parents settled and they grew up. Be it is at may - it would not help to put a list of players on this site as you did - rather find the players imported by New Zealand as economic rugby migrants from Samoa that was lured to NZ as adult rugby players and put that list on this site.

Well Mike apparently all these guys were of Samaon decent and borne outside Nz.

Then also we have the guys who didnt become abs but played Super 15. Then we havent listed Tongans or Fijians.

So yes as you say some may have immigrated and been raised in nz. Some may have come latter. Its difficult to know these details.

What is certain however is the close emotional connection to nz and hence Samoan antagonism to the Boks that we continually see on the field of play.

Bean brain you would have to be the stupidest japie Ive come across, I can tell you that at least 90% of that list, which includes bill birtwistle who played 50 years ago, are all NZ born players. That list is of players who have some samoan ethnicity. Christian Cullen has a deceased samoan grandmother.  They were/are all NZ citizens.

What do you identify as Bean brain, a south african or the baboon father that spawned you?

Incidently the all black team that walked all over the bok team at soweto last year had ONE player who had samoan ethnicity, Ma'a Nonu (born in wellington by the way). The rest were of european or maori (sorry are we allowed to pick maori?) descent.

Have educated him on the Polynesian situation in NZ the info is out there on the internet even Beeno can't be idiotic enough not to check that all those"samoan" players were born outside of NZ could he. And then Bok Bef$k jumps on the Beeno band wagon so he comes across as much of an idiot. Here's the hypocrisy again bitch about AB Polynesian players and yet the Boks have a prop born outside SA playing..."Beast" ring any bells. Didn't he get special treatment in order to play for Boks.

This is just stupid. Can't believe this is still used or argued?

@Beeno how many of those list of plyers were actually born in Samoa? Think you will find only 13 ever representing NZ was born in Samoa.

Let me make it short for you. The issue wasn't about where they were born. Not at all. The issue really was guys being selected for Samoa then performs internationally then get picked by NZ and Samoa had to go find another player. Irrespective if he was born in Samoa Hong Kong NZ or on the moon. He played for a country and when he performed was suddenly drafted by another country like if Samoa was some development test team to see if they are any good at international level or not.

That is why the ruckus was about Bunce, Irramea, Vandiri etc etc because they chose to play for Samoa and Fiji first. Rockocko and others who played for the Kiwi's first no one really bothers about. Its just when Samoa build a good team or starting to build one their best players got selected for NZ. That was the issue. Which have been fixed with the one country ruling.

So why this argument still flares up is beneath me. No wonder Kiwi's think we are stupid cocks. Can't blame them

Polly … there’s a big difference between an individual losing his head and a planned assault by one team on another.

Let’s face it polly boy, these Polynesians are certainly filthy players and they target the opposition to do them harm.

They are probably celebrated as heroes on their return. Both by Samoans and New Zealanders.

Disgraceful … they should be removed from all rugby competitions.

No Cleancut. You are misinformed

That may have been folkloric in the good old days, but which nowadays reflects only crudely on the national sport of New Zealand. That is the very problem: rediscovering core values and yet keeping the image-conscious sponsors and parents and administrators and politicians sweet.

So before you throw accusations get to know the Kiw's first they are not that bad bunch and well what about Bakkies? We still think his old school play are just rugby and make it into folklore ourselves.

Cleancut thought we were talking about whether the players listed were of Samoan or NZ descent, you seemed to have seized upon the Polynesian thing to use as an excuse to generalize about polynesian players...to satisfy your own agenda. I will say this from personal experience, NO NZ'er that I know of any ethnicity would condone the actions of deliberately going out to injure an opposition player let alone celebrate it.

Spoon

Nonsense!!!

The Polynesians have been filthy since the beginning of time. They find it far more rewarding taking an opponent’s head off than actually winning a match. That’s probably one of the many reason they’ve never excelled as a nation in the sport.

They lack self discipline which is clearly evident by the masses of body fat they carry.

Sadly this carries over to their play on the field.

Save the lecture on getting to know a kiwi … ok?

Whatever you think of Bakkies is your business. Clearly I do not share your opinion of him. It’s irrelevant.

The action of Greyling on McCaw was planned prior to running onto the pitch and that Van Zyl's attack on the ref was what was put into place before hand by rugby authorities?

Rooitwit you say I must stick to my copy and paste - well rooitwit I did - I copied this from Wiki!! I actually disclosed this as well. Bwahahahahahahhahaha what a hatter.

I also said rooitwit in a reply to Mike that it was difficult to know when these guys came to nz etc. and I am certainly not going to spend hours on the issue. I said what was ceratian was their emotional attachment to nz (Anyone disputing that?) and also that they intentionally try to injure Boks. Their cheap shot approach is evident whenever we play them.  I stand by that.

Sorry oaks if the cap fits wear it.  ab wannabe rooitwit has no concern over ths connection and injury to Boks.

Poly you rwords are nobl ebut please expalin why after some 20 years the situation remains unchanged. Consistent cheap shots as we saw again at loftus where Jean escaped ith his life and was miraculously saved from ending up in a wheel chair.

The Islanders must be told to clean up their act or ship out.

The extent to which nz benefits from the Samoan, Tongan and Fiji player connection is more difficult to pin point unless hours are spent going back into history etc. I am referring to both test and Super Comp level. Those thinking Wiki is wrong please inform them. Where were these players born and if outside New Zealand when did they come to nz etc

Sorry oaks if the cap fits wear it.  Samoan players consistently take cheap shots on Bok players. nz benefits player wise from its Islander connection. The first assertion is bullet proof, the second needs more input to establish only the degree.

End of story!

The Irish and Canadians had not much intensions of playing rugby in those game.

Are you saying Samoans go out to rip heads off? No. They been coached to tackle the ball and at times when players move you get it wrong. Not planned just the way they been brought up to tackle thats the chest area.

Have you ever played rugby? If so have you ever been a forward on the bottom of a loose scrum? Players do all kinds of shit there. Just check aat our school laaities punching referees and assaulting each other. No way us can point fingers at a nation who goes out fired up and give a 100 percent for their small nation. Just like we do and players do make mistakes or do get fired up a bit too much.

But look at Brain Lima. You throw a hospital pass to your mate he will cut him in half. Its rugby.

Spoony you are trying to be argumentative. What we see from Samoa does not happen on this scale and with this consistently from any other side.

As Moz said does it take a death to enforce clean play from them. Rugby of course is a physical game but  dirty play takes that to a different level and when a side plays like Samoa does it needs addressing seriously and urgently.

No more nonsense please spoony!

Hehehe. Yeah, that's right, Saffas reputation as dirty players is unjust (insert sarcastic snigger).  Of course they would never intentionally set out to maim opposition players ( pfffffft)

Anyone remember this?

"I knew that we were going to lose, but I made up my mind to take a few people down with me. I committed some appalling fouls, hitting people in possession and smashing others off the ball.

Of course, not only was it dangerous play, but also stupid. It only raised England's ire to such an extent that they thrashed us 53-3, the worst beating a Springbok side has ever suffered".

And you can imagine how I felt as the team's captain. You can choose whichever words you wish: humiliation, hurt, pain, anger, resentment, fury; all of them applied to my state of mind that afternoon as we trudged off Twickenham.

The only thing I get from your post is you don't like Polynesian players, and use generalisations and derogatory statements to justify your stance, if EVERY samoan player is dirty then tell me one dirty act each player from 1 thru 15 did in the Bok tests and how the ref dealt with it. Beeno of course NZ benefits from the Island connection its normal to use a natural resource. But I'm under the impression that you think that there are no Polynesians in NZ, and the NZ population is predominantly white, which it is, (however census projections see that the % will decrease in future with growth of Asian population and Polynesian pop.) and that the only Polynesians there are imported to play rugby...it that a fair assumption or not? Interestingly now that I mention it the NZRU has come out saying they are to target the growing Asian population for rugby...so I suppose we can expect to hear of "NZ exploiting Asia for rugby players" once they come through to the AB's?
