Ever since you reaved about Fruean as a player i have been watching hin in every game - particularly also in the Sharks game.

My summary is as follows:-

*    He is a very strong ball carrier - that cannot be doubted.

*    He is not the speediest outside center around

*    He is what you call in Afrikaans "lomp" - I cannot think of an appropriate translated word in that his passing game at times is inaccurate and balls are lost as a result.  Partivularly today there ws othr similar examples.

*    He is at times giving away needless penalties.

*    He definitely is not a solid defender.   In the Sharks game he madse 1 tackle and missed one tackle.  This was repeated today.

Even though defence is not a strong point with competing 13's for All Black selection - I still think their best prospective 13 is Richard Kahui of the Chiefs - he is better both in defence and attack than the other New Zealand 13's.  He is also a very clever player that can add value to attacking play.

Fruean has all the physical attributes, but he lacks the rugby nous to make him a test player. Is dangerous with ball in hand, but lacks the subtle touch to make things happen around him.

Rene Ranger has been the best Kiwi 13 this year, not sure why he was moved to wing today. Conrad Smith is always good as is Kahui, but he is off overseas, so will not be part of the AB's.

My guess is Smith will be the AB 13 with Ranger as back-up

Mike the point was never that Fruean was fantastic. The point was, even though he isn't fantastic....he dominated Jordaan .  Capisce?

Mozart

Short memory he - he was even more dominant against your much-admired De Jongh.  De Jongh missed two tackles of him and Jordaan 1.  Capice?
